Is It Realistic?

We all go through life wanting love, money, success...Do we achieve these things or have we set the bar so high that we can't reach it. Do we want love yet we don't give it...Do we want a million dollars but all we need is money to eat...Do we want to run a company before we have a job. Hmmm...have you set your life's ambitions to a goal that is attainable?

Hello Menace! Welcome to mylot! It is funny that we sometimes set up certain goals and yet we don't make the necessary effort to attain it. Perhaps it is just plain laziness on our part being people wanting to make everything "automatic". truly it could be just wishful thinking on our parts having a fortune or success in a snap of our fingers. Personally, I do have goals that I wished I could attain. I have made effort and am trying/ working towards attaining it. Have a good day!

Thanks for the welcome sophiecheer. The key I think to getting to ones goals is exactly what you have said, "I have made an effort and am trying/working towards attaining it" Thanks sophiecheer

You're welcome Menace! Indeed having set goals is not enough. We must work hard towards attaining it in order for it to be realized. As the famous Filipno saying goes, "Kung may itinanim, merong aanihin". Translated: "You can harvest when you planted". Happy mylotting!

hello dennis, we all have an earnest desire for some type of achievement or distinction, as power, honor, fame, or wealth, and the willingness to strive for its attainment. but i would set a goal which i know is realistic and could be attained. i wouldnt hold those who aim for something really high and mighty goals.. but i dont think i will be happy to cross or step on someone just to be able to get there. i would rather have my inner peace. ann

Hi Ann...yes I agree stepping on someone is not the way...Depending on the goal a person sets for him or herself, I think education is the key to success. I don't mean without education you can't but the odds I think are sure much more in your favor if you do.

I think one should distinguish between realistic goals and high ambitions.Having high ambitions is all right but one has to work hard to attain them.Otherwise they shall remain mere dreams. You are right when you say one has to set achievable targets.Even if we aim high we ought to put in sufficient effort and planning so these aspirations of ours come true.

Yes picjim, sufficient effort and planning is a must or we set ourselves up for failure. thanks

I think having unattainable goals is a good thing. We should never reach a place in life where we say, "well, good enough." We always need to be adapting and improving as human beings. Otherwise, the human race would never make it.

Yes...I would agree with you but unattainable means can't be reached. Adapting and improving yes. Maybe I should have said unrealistic instead. We should reach but I think it becomes more attainable if we go one step at a time. Don't reach too far, to fast. thanks lilbabycatpillar.
