I got this turtle from a student last March. He was selling it in order to have at least an amount to comply his requirement for his final project at school. I was not sure how to take care of this kind yet. I was afraid it might die in my hands because I do not know what will I offer him to eat. What will be the kind of shelter it will be comfortable of. I would like to thank milestone, a mylot user who is providing information about turtles. It is best also if I am going to plan for a bigger shelter where he can go around, he can swim and live in a normal way.

I really love turtles, but I don't have any. I learned about them by researching them for awhile, but never did get one. I really do like them though. I like lots of different kinds of reptiles.

I can't hlp but smile. I would probably let it get used to me and eventually touch and then handle it. It's lime any other living thing. It has to feel safe and secure. I wouldn't let its mouth come into contact with me though. If it bites it might not let go. I just love them though. Wish I had room for one.

dear amiga, My sister has a turtle named "chloe" and she just put chloe inside the bathroom. That's really awesome..hehehe. She feeds the little thing with rice and bread. Sometimes when it's late at night and i went to the bathroom to pee...chloe made some movements like telling...take me out from here. Yeah,if someone forget to close the door...chloe is too fast sneak out and go to the kitchen. My sister had that little turtle for years already dear amiga.

Wow! Really? How big is Chloe dear amiga? I like her name... So femenine. For Keoni I am not sure about its gender. Hehehe But Keoni can be a male or female name.

Ohhh how cute! I love that name for a turtle. It's just a beautiful name. I would want to interact with it. My friend had a ball python snake and I loved it. It liked to go around my neck and get into my shirt and feel my body heat. Poor thing got out one winter night and froze in an ingested bedroom. I cried over that snake.

my brothers and i had a bale of turtles. we probably had 5 each. they were red eared sliders which are quite round and cute when they are young but not so much when they get bigger. these turtles are quite feisty too and will snap at you if mishandled. now one thing i know about turtles is that they're omnivorous meaning they will eat anything. and boy can they eat. if a turtle is stressed out, they will not eat so, respect your turtle, try to handle it as less as you can at the start until it gets used to your presence and being handled. turtles are not fish! they need water and land to survive. people often put them in a bowl filled only with water because it's fun to watch them swim. well it's not fun to watch them die of exhaustion! give them lots of vegetables, leafy ones and carrots. and fruits. and a few strips of meat. and try to insert a calcium tablet in there every once in a while to make sure they have strong, sturdy bones and shell.

Wow! And thank you for sharing your expertise about turtles. It's nice to hear those. Wish I will be able to get another one to pair with Keoni for him to play and swim. :-)

I don't think I'm the best example in how take care of a turtle, but I'll try. When I was a kid, every kid had a turtle, so me and my sister bought one too. It was fun at the time and we play a lot with her, but with the time we got a little tired. We want to give her for a friend or give to some pet store, but our mom didn't let us do that. So, almost 8 years later, she is living with my mom, but my mom never plays with her, she practically only lives in her aquarium (it's big at least). It's not hard to take care of a turtle, you only need to feed her everyday (there are plenty of brands of turtle food) and clean her aquarium (my mom cleans every 2-3 weeks).

Speaking of aquarium, it sounds a good idea too. Um, I'll be weighing things if I'll go for a huge aquarium or a small swimming pool with dry area too. Thank you for your comment :-)
