We got a new bike attachment for my daughter

My kids on their bike attachment - This bike attachment hooks on Hubby's bike and balances my daughter while they both ride around the city or on bike trails.

Well, after many tries with my daughter balancing on a bicycle and her even busting training wheels, her being so scared, we decided to finally purchase a bike attachment, which is a half a bike attached to the back of Hubby's bike. She's just barely under the weight limit as well, so we're lucky that way. This is a huge big relief for us, as we were worried about summer driving and the high gas prices, and also my daughter being overweight. We will be saving about $200 on gas in July and August just by using this attachment to get the kids to and from the summer day camp (funded by the special needs centre they belong to). This is really good, we'll be going on biking trips as a family, camping overnight in the woods and exploring, gathering wild berries for the winter, that sort of thing. By then, our muscles will be toned up really nice, and we will all be in good shape. Here's a picture of my kids on the bike attachment, my son's holding up Hubby's bike and my daughter's proudly showing off on the bike attachment at the very end. It's a little fuzzy since I took it from my mobile phone.

Talk about not stopping until one gets things accomplished. Wow I like it and she looks happy too. I am glad you all will get to do things together as a family. It should be a fun summer for you all exploring out and about, plus saving on gas too. It will be great exercise for the entire family, plus fun too.

Yup, I'm pretty excited, as well. I really do hope it works out well for her, she seems pretty optimistic about it, although a little scared. We're going to practise this week on the sunny days, and hopefully by this coming Sunday we can all bike into Church. My city is building a lot of new bike trails, so it'll be easier for us to travel as a family, just a few nasty intersections, but my husband's really cautious, especially when he's with us - his family. LOL he really guards us with his life!

What a nice thing to say about your kid's dad. I hope they realize how much he loves them. This is a great bike attachment.

The kids always loved their father tremendously, and they're always looking forward to spending family time together, whatever it is. Both of them use the phrase "whole family" a lot, since Children's Aid came into our lives and had Hubby removed for about a week while he focused on getting anger management and parenting classes and a plan in place. That was 3 years ago. Now they cling even closer to Hubby, afraid he's going to go again. Personally, I think this'll be a great bonding time :-)

I have never seen anything like this before. It looks like a great intermediate step for her. She needs help with her balance and with feeling secure in the biking situation. I am glad that you can do your errands together and find recreation as well by bike riding. I think she has just gotten convinced that she cannot ride, but by the end of the summer she should be much more confident and have a good sense of how to balance. I see it does have pedals so that she will be helping by pedaling as well. It seems like a win win situation.

That's what we're thinking, is at the end of the summer she'll gain more confidence, and we can safely get her a bicycle of her own for next summer.
