Something wonderful is happening in Italy. Maybe many of you know Italy for the food, the sea and the clowns (like Berlusconi). Yes, it's hard life in Italy. It is even to hard if you're an artist. The Prime Minister is owner of many television and gradually taken off all funds to the culture. In the winter has been deleted the ETI (Ente Teatrale Italiano), the only institution of the theater. Now the theater have not reference institutions. Due the cuts now risks to close the Teatro Valle, the oldest theater in Rome (opened in 1727). The artists (actors, set designers, writers) have occupied since 14 June the theater and since seven days offer a self-organized programming: they performed for free more than 100 artists and ther have been over 5000 spectators. I happy for this, because I'm a theater actor and I suffer to live in this country who does not love the art. The rebellion now spread to other theaters and tomorrow in front to the Teatro Duse in Bologna a group of artists will meet to decide what to do for the reopening of the Teatro Duse. Maybe it's finally time to raise the head, it's time for a real peaceful cultural revolt.
