Hello Lotters, It's hard to believe but for some reason i prayed again this morning and I don't know why. Frankly, I don't know why i stop participating in the church, even if my reason was to avoid being hypocrite, I believe that there's no excuse in giving you're time with GOD. I know some people here might say it's my choice and what's with the religion anyways. unfortunately, it can be very depressing and frightening not attending mass, not praying. though maybe my mom or cousin (nun) or some one out there praying for me, if there was one that is. Couldn't believe that My mom is an active part of christian organization and my cousin is a NUN. then my Eldest Brother goes back to the Choir.then, my second brother recently been attending mass in baclaran church in manila more often. now, where was that leave me too? i don't want to make an excuse, but maybe i've experience being lonely enough to realize that i should return to GOD and be active in talking to him again..I missed him

They always say that when we feel distant from God, it is us that moved. Pray that he will restore your relationship and give you peace in your heart. I need the same thing.

The fact that you want to be closer to God is that first step. Every step you make toward God, God draws nearer to you also.

Hello djbtol, It's not easy going back with all the sins we have done but we do know that GOD is forgiving. sometimes i don't want to because i felt like abusing him or something but i will take into consideration going back to him

Dear Letran, I know what it is like to feel that emptiness. People will say you don't need to go to church, that God dwells in your heart. Well, it is true that God does dwell in your heart, but God also tells us that we are all part of each other, which tells me that we need each other. In order to be with others who believe the same, it is often best to go to church to share that part of yourselves. Romans 12:5 NIV says ... so in Christ we who are many form one body and each member belongs to all the others. I fell like, if you are missing God, then God is missing you too. For he loved us while we were still in our mother's womb. We love Him because He loved us first. I hope that you can find peace in your heart over this. It is wonderful to be reconciled with God... to feel that mutual love relationship between you and God.

Wow, such a touching post. I used to attending novena mass during Wednesday in Baclaran, but just recently I stopped because I hate why every Wednesday it is raining. It is hard to go to Baclaran when raining. I talked to God at home. During quite times, when everyone is sleeping. AT night my sister is with me in bed and I write for the meantime. When she give in to sleep that is the time I talked to God. I even talk to God when I woke up. I even have my own journal where i write every prayer I have to say to him, although he did know it since he can read minds(Superman?). I mean he knows his creation by heart, so even if I am not praying he knows what I am saying deep inside me. About your topic, you did not lost your way, actually you found your way and the only way is to GOD. That is nice.

One thing that I hate in my religion is that they ordered me to do this and that and they will warn me or kinda threat me that I will not go to heaven if I did not do it. I have my own ways to communicate with God and I know he listens to everything i say.

Letran, I doubt there is anyone on earth that has not lost their way..In a way I feel I have too, with school and no place to fellowship with other believers, I struggle to keep an open line to G♥d...Thankfully all it takes is surrender, but when I am stressed, I can't even do that..Yet He is with me, I know this from the surprising grade I got in English, (I thought I was going to get a "C", then a "B", only to find I got an "A" ) So I know He is still with me, even in this math course I am taking now, though some words and thoughts that come to my mind is not very pure.. Thanks for this discussion, it puts in perspective that I should take time to go to Him, each morning if not through out the day, because that is the only way I'll survive this summer..

I pray He gives me some of that power to excell in math, I can't count how many times I have broken down because I couldn't figure out a problem.. As for how to start, well start small..Start with saying Hi G♥d and then tell him about your day, your dreams, or how you feel..It should be like any other relationship, don't look at it as something stressful, but as getting to know Him again..Have fun, G♥d likes fun...

Hello carmel, I really hate math but some how GOD give me a reason to excell on it even if it's just one time. maybe i should start praying more i guess. there's nothing wrong with it really, but the problem is with me on how to start doing it again. it's just hard to surrender because you may never know when you're going to do it again.but am keeping my hopes up

I don't think avoiding being a hypocrite is a good reason to not go to church. Nobody is perfect except Jesus. The priest, if they're doing their job properly, will tell you that. The point is to try to be as good as you can, and you should seek God's guidance on that rather than doing things people think are good, not making your beliefs correspond to what you think you can do (you can probably do better than you think). I'm guessing that you're a Catholic. Catholicism has some serious problems and has screwed up many people. Perhaps you should consider going to a different church or even a different denomination, where the style or worship and perhaps the people will be more to your liking. I don't know where you live, I think in country a I don't know much about, so I don't know what the churches there are like. Just try to stick to real churches (or Messianic synagogs), not heretical groups like the Mormons and Jehovah's Witnesses.

Hello LK, I don't feel it to be bad because at least three of you family members are praying for you. Doesn't matter you go to church but what matters you should be good at heart and should not think bad for others, should always help poor ones, its not that GOD bless the person who comes to church GOD bless more to those people who walks on the way on which GOD walk means to help others. So don't get disappointed always pray anywhere if you don't get time to go church for mass. I don't go to temple but see many people being rude who go to temple everyday which is not in my habit.

Hello sjvg, I am glad that they have come back to the lord. i never actually prayed for them to go back to the church and pray but i guess, they too felt that they needed GOD again. the only person left not going much to the church is my middle brother.

Hi LK, I think the day will come in future when GOD will call you & your middle brother in church i think that will be the happy day for you. I think GOD is testing you and is thinking you will come to HIM before HE calls himself you to church.

What way have you lost? It is better to lose the way to all roads but never ever lose the way to heaven. And my dear, make sure your way to heaven is right. The way is through Jesus alone. As He himself has said "I am the way the truth and the life, no one cometh unto the Father but by me." You said you prayed again this morning. I hope this is not the memorized prayers of traditional religion but prayers that come straight from your own heart and mind. If you did, then that is a good sign. God is touching your heart to come to Him and you did respond. God desires each of us to come to Him in prayer. But why pray at all? We need to pray because that is the basic need of our soul... beyond all other needs, more than all the physical needs of a man. Praying to God is a way to commune with God and God likes to hear us praying. He desires communion with us in fact. Praying is not reciting memorized lines our forefathers have long taught has or begging him for material things but rather a way to make God feel we need him and we love him and we long to commune with him. It is a way for us to know Him more and to feel more of His love. Let me please tell you that all the things being done by religious people will NOT bring them to heaven. A person could sing in the choir, could not miss a single mass, could be NUN, could recite novenas, could even walk kneeling, could even be a priest but still go to hell because He does not really know Jesus. He knows Jesus in his mouth only but not in his heart. So too bad for anyone who has a wrong faith because despite all his good intention to fulfill the requirements of his religion he will end up in condemnation just the same. It takes just right faith to gain sure access to heaven. Religion is not the way to heaven it is Jesus. So unless your religion teaches that Jesus is the only way to heaven and no other one then it is useless to go back to that religion. God has already put back in your heart the desire to commune with Him. From there pick up the lost time you spent in living without God. Start discovering more and more of the only true God. Read the Bible and find the right faith that will not mislead you.

Hello salonga, Unfortunately, it was just a memorized prayer. but i will do my best to motivate myself to start praying to him again.I never wanted to have material things but some how my life not having peers or friends on my side makes me want materials things sometimes and most of the time, money. thank you for your advice, this is indeed helpful for me.

As long as you are doing your best and doing what is right by you, then you have not lost your way. Doing something that you don't believe in because you fear punishment or fear that you might be wrong is not the right way. Fear is never the right way. Love is the way. Keep love in your heart and it will guide you. Namaste.

Hello sketch, Yes, I am doing my best every time. sometimes going to the church probably might makes it worse than it should have been. I do my best to love and not fear that much, sometimes, fear can be unreasonable.

God takes you as you are regardless of what you have done or how you think. He loves you the same as he did when you were first born. It doesn't mean you are terrible, I know many that had a bad reputation, but that didn't stop them from changing their lives. It doesn't matter what christian organization you are in. Just get back into the same thought mode, say you are going to do better, believe him and trust him. The Lord takes us back as many times as necessary and he tests us to keep us going.

dear LK, God dwells in our heart, you don't need to go to church to talk with HIM. Yes, there are places/church where to can pray more and find peace according to our faith and beliefs. But since you are not active in any organization, what i can say is...never forget to pray and talk to GOD by heart. Just praying and surrender yourself when you are praying..like keeping all your senses shut from this world... you need a full concentration...close your eyes and do not let yourself be disturbed by any noise..and pray. You will find yourself like talking to GOD in person...you can let your feelings flow freely and you will find peace ..inner peace after you've talked with HIM and surrendering everything to HIM. Try it once...by heart

jaiho, I think churches have purposes other than just being places to pray (for one thing the church is really the people, not the building). They let you get to know other Christians who you can be friends with and help each other with things. Often things require a large amount of work and/or finances and people need to organize to do it. They also tend to stop you from going off the rails by accumulating weird beliefs and then building on them (this can also happen with small groups).

hello friend, i'm still here using the borrowed modem so I can still respond, anyway, I seldom or ever go to church too but I am a prayerful person, I hate rites and rituals, I prefer praying like talking to God and that makes me very happy,I pray when I wake up, before eating or sleeping, when I get a blessing or have problems, I always talk and pray to God to give thanks and to ask for guidance, again this is my own way and some people might have their own so respect begets respect

Hello louievill, well, am so glad you got yourself a new modem. I don't mind the rituals, what i hate more are the SONGS that they kept changing. i think the church should have regulations on not changing the usual songs.that's probably why no one is familiar with the old song when ever hear during the choir song

hello LK, You already know why I stopped going to church though sometimes I drop by and pray but unlike my sister she always attended Sunday Mass. I believe that I have my own way of thanking him and ask forgiveness Even your whole family will turn into a Sacred Active Catholic you don't need to feel this way because you know to yourself how strong your faith is happy mylotting

Hello catch, I don't know why people should always endulge themselves to go to mass when ever they have the time for it. but i guess i shouldn't give much opinion about it. my faith is strong most of the time, despite the fact that i don't participate in church activities anymore. i do believe god loves me and i know he wants me back
