What do you think about Manuel Neuer?

I am a Bayern and German national team fan, but I have to say that I don't agree with the deal Bayern has done this summer with signing Manuer Neuer. Of course, he is a world class keeper, but he is a player who was born in Gelsenkirchen and he was a member of a Schalke Ultra faction. He has repeatedly said that he will be a Schalke player till he dies and he said things which were against Bayern, the most memorable scene has happened in 2009 when he mocked about Oliver Kahn in Munchen, ironically imitating him. So what do you think about this deal? Do you care only on what a player shows on the field or you look at him as a person, who may not suit as a human to your favorite team? Share with me...

The only thing I know is that Neuer had a really good year. And I think he can help bayern. I am not a bayern fan so I see this with a different point of you than you do. However, keep in mind that similar things have happened many times in the football past. There are also worst things, imagine how you'd feel if one of your favourite players in your team, would go to the greatest rival team, after stating many times how much he hates that team and that he could never do that. This happened with 3 players from my favourite greek team the past 3 years:P

This is the same here. I don't want traitors at Bayern, no matter how good they are. Can you name the players and the teams from Greece which have been involved?

I don't really follow the Greek league, but all I can say that I have a huge respect for the fans, who make extraordinary atmosphere there. I don't know why players do this, they should have more respect for the supporters, which make them so wealthy, much more wealthy than they deserve. If they are professional as they claim, they will never mock other team and then I have no problem when they go to a rival. But if they claim that they hate the other team and then sign for them, in my opinion they don't deserve to play football anymore. How have the PAOK fans accepted this players? Because I know they are really proud people also.

yes. The players are Chalkias, Ivic, Papazoglou, and the next year Vitolo. They were playing for Aris and all of a sudden they moved to the rival team Paok, even though they stated many times in interviews, how much they love playing for Aris, and how much they hate Paok etc..

The problem with him is not where he has come from, but how he acted before being a Bayern player. He has mocked over Bayern and insulted the fans by ironically imitating Kahn in Munchen. So he will never be accepted by a part of Bayern fans, and from me neither.

rappeter13, I believe we should be open minded and objective with Manuel Neuer especially when he is such a talented custodian at goal. We should never mistake his loyalty for Schalke, after all, all of us would have a special feeling and bond with the place that we were raised and groomed. Personally, I believe he has an eccentric sense of humor and gamesmanship where sometimes will be mistaken for disrespect or disloyalty. Let's not forget that he does have a contract to fulfill where his career's success depends on it. He may be one of the greatest goalkeeper in the making but let's not forget the road is a long one for him.

I think a player who hasn't acted like a professional till now and suddenly wants to be respected as a professional player, doesn't deserve the honor to wear Bayern's shirt. I just don't care how good he is as a player, but he has a history which has anti Bayern tendency, so he doesn't belong there.

I am not aware of the bad blood between Bayern and Schalke and my comment will not be based on it. After watching Kahn between the post and to a certain extend Lehmann, Neuer had big gloves to fill. So far, I am not impressed by him. Maybe his predecessors had set the mark too high.

I think you are wrong what regards the talent and the performance of Neuer. Even Ferguson said that in his whole career he hasn't seen a goalkeeper who is capable of the type of game Neuer has done in the game Schalke-Manchester, which ended 0-2. Of course, he has made many mistakes, but that just happens. However, what he has done over the years and what he has said against Bayern makes me not to want him between the posts at Bayern. He claims that he is a professional player, but he hasn't acted like one till now. If he would have acted professionally before as well, I wouldn't have any trouble seeing him at Bayern. And I think that Kraft has demonstrated that he has the potential of being a bigger goalkeeper than Neuer, and I would wanted him to remain at Bayern.

@rappeter13: He is a world class goalkeeper, there is no doubt about it. Nevertheless, I believe as long as he can help your favorite team to win something at the end of the season he deserved his place. Me, for one didn't really like Nasri because he is an Arsenal player. But when there are rumours linking him to Old Trafford, I am really happy because he might be one of United players and he will certainly be handy when he is needed. As long as my team wins something at the end of the season, I don't really care who they are buying (except when I think there are better player in the squad and he is not worth the same place)

I have no problem when a player who has played for a rival joins the team, if he acted professionally all the time he has played for the other team. But if he claims that he is a fan of that team and talks bad and humiliates my favorite team, I don't care how good he is, I don't want to see him in my favorite team. As for Neuer, he has broken many of his promises, which makes him a low personality. As for Nasri, I haven't heard him saying something bad about United all the time he has played for Arsenal, so I think it is a different story with him.
