I know this doesn't really fit under the question and answers section but I will ask the question anyway. What do people think about sleep deprivation? I am currenly on heavy sleeping tablets and although they help at night they can make me feel very drousy during the day. I am currently strugglnig to write this for example, but I prepsred a lot of hand written work last night before typing it on here. This perwork can be helpful for response typihg as it can speed up the srocess and often I think of quirky sentences to add to my work while I am typing. The time of wrining was 12:50am last night (27th June 2011) and I should be getting to bed by 12am at the latest. The fact that I returned from the pub at around 11pm and then had my meds was not good in itself but at least I was good and had 4 non alcoholic beverages and some pork scratchings and scampy fries ftw :) while out. My boyfriend and I also had a nice conversatin anout the futute and maybe settling dawn which made me happy. Good stoff.

So what is your question anyway? I think if you are using the sleeping pills for sleeping then it is not good for you. Use some exercises instead. One small thing you can do anywhere and anytime is touch the index finger with the tip of the thumb. This is called Gyan Mudra keep this position for a time and then you will feel very much relaxed from anything like sleeplessness, headache etc. I hope you will get the benefit, thanks and have a nice day.

So it is like an "ok" sign? Or the one that the Colgate commercial uses as "no cavity sign"? Are you sure it's the index and not the middle finger? I see some individuals in meditating position using the middle finger tip touching the thumb. Is that a wrong way to do things? Oh well, I might as well try to search for it anyway. Thanks a lot for the heads up!

Yes it is kind of an "Okay" sign, and it is the index finger not the middle finger. If you have Gas in your stomach then touching the middle finger is helpful for that. Different fingers have different advantages. When we touch the tip of the fingers it creates a kind of closed circuit in our body and different fingers create different circuits. If you want to have more confidence then use the ring finger.

the effect of using sleeping tablets include: 1. Hangover Symptoms Using sleeping can make you feel fatigue, dizziness, headache or nausea, and difficulty. waking up in the morning. How ever, these side effects can be avoided. you will not experience the symtomps of hangover is if the doctor has to prescribe the proper dose, and you are using the meditation according to doctor's instructions. 2. Dangers of heartburn a study conducted showed that those who use sleping pills (ambient) increased risk a wakened by an attack of the heartburn due to acid reflux into the esophagus. Acid flow in the opposite direction could damage the esophagus. The same damage to the cells lining the throat will increase the risk of esofageal cancer.

Sleep deprivation is NEVER good. My grandfather used to have this problem with sleeping aids. He would take them but end up so groggy and messed up the next morning. So he ended up getting his medical ganja card and started smoking heavy indica strains. And it worked very well for him!! I also find that a good rolled joint before bed makes me fall asleep with ease and no side affects in the morning. p.s. I do not understand the last half of the post.

I guess, the sleeping tablets were prescribed to you. But as far as i know, if you keep on having them everyday to get you to sleep, you will get dependent on it to be able to sleep. The more that you will not be able to sleep when you withdraw from them. Maybe you should analyze what really is it that deprives you of sleep? Was it the work schedule? The food? Maybe once you know what is it, you can make a way to address it.

I've never been really sleep deprvied. There have been times that I hadn't felt sleepy and so I didn't go to sleep for awhile, and there were times that I stayed up for two days in a row, but that was also usually out of pure adrennaline. I am the opposite, I rather like to sleep when I can.

Are this sleeping tablets prescribed? There are people taking unprescribed sleeping tablets and that might be dangerous. In m country sleeping tablets must be prescribed the prescription has an expiration. Don't know if it's the same in your case. Sleeping deprivation is always unhealthy and you must seek medical help for any kind of sleeping disorder. I hope you'll be able to sleep tonight and relax.

lol! this was funny to read, because this is actually how i SOUND when i'm tired. my partner says i sound like a 4 year old child trying to string an intelligent sentence together! i was on chinese herbal sleeping tablets for awhile, and they did help, but i find that just putting up with the rubbish sleep for 3 or 4 nights in a row, and then crashing out on the 4th or 5th, does me wonders!!

Maybe you just need to synchronize your body clock with that of nature first. Try to live a day imitating how nature works. Rise early like the sun and rest when the night comes. Try to have a vacation to synchronize yourself with nature. I haven't really used sleeping tablets yet so I have no idea of its effects. Try to exercise daily and do breathing exercises. They can help regulate your fluid levels. This might help in re-organizing your body too.

I too have problems sleeping, getting to sleep and just all around staying asleep. I have suffered this for years. However, lately I have been taking melatonin which is a natural substance already found in the body. The effect is drowsiness. I also have recently started stretching and yoga. Hope these suggestions can help you.
