I'm going crazy

Ya know I have been in the Philippines about 7 months now and I am going a little crazy from boredom of not working. I want to start a small business, but I don't know what to do. I'm spending way too much time on the computer and I need to get out and do something. I'm in Iligan City. HELP...Give me some idea's of a business I can start up.

Yes maria Christina falls is here. My wife keeps wanting to start a food service for people to buy on credit...I'm not so keen on that idea.

I have a suggestion for you, why not combining your wife's idea and your own like idea, that may gonna solve your problem. What do you think? But of course, before that, try to ask for God's will. It is important to ask His wisdom first before going on to some plan and action. God bless you! =)

Thanks axlrate...so many time we are faced with problems or decisions and we forget (like I did ) to ask God. I thought to ask on my lot but did not go to God first. Thank you for reminding me where I should have gone first.

First, let me ask, what is your professional or business background in? How did you earn your living before living in The Philippines? And what do you like to do or want to do? What is your expertise? You want to enjoy your work and have knowledge about your products or services. .
There are a lot of businesses that offer franchises or are looking for affiliates. I suggest that you begin to search for those companies and see if any work for you. You might get ideas that way.
How about starting an ebay business? I know a lot of people who do really well on ebay. My big thing is costume jewelry but as you are well aware, everything is sold on ebay.
What are you into: baseball cards, records, jewelry, coins etc etc etc. Everyone is a collector and everyone has a hobby. You can buy things at estate sales and re-sell them at a profit on ebay. Or you can also buy wholesale from wholesalers and sell retail on ebay.
In the states, we also have craigslist. Do you have anything like that in the Philippines?
I suggest that you search "starting your own small business". There should be a lot of results. You should be able to get a lot of information and tips.
But most importantly, what is your background in. What special knowledge do you have about products or what services can you provide. What do you enjoy doing?

Thanks for your response Bostonphil.
I was a project manager for an Engineering office in the USA for 30 years. So I don't know that this will help me here in the Philippines. I also have done some buying and selling on ebay hmmm, maybe I should try and start something on this. Buying wholesale and selling on ebay sounds interesting.
I will also search starting a small business and see what info I can gather.. . Wow, thanks for the advice.

Yes moskitten, I have thought of this but my wife says here in Iligan City where we are located, it's not a good idea. She says there are too many here already and if I go more towards the city proper there are even more of them.
