Life Changing Choices

Philippines

We all make choices and I made a choice to come live in the Philippines. Of course this was easy for me because I married the most beautiful girl in all of the country. But non the less it was a major choice for me. It's a whole new culture fore me...Culture Shock. I lived a very spoiled life in the USA as compared to my life now. Not to mention I am too tall for the jitneys. lol What are the major life changing choices you have made in the last year?

First of all, welcome to the Philippines :) Hope you enjoy your life here :) I believe that everything we do is life changing, though it may not seem apparent at all. But that's just me. Anyway, to answer your question, I guess my life changing choice was when I decided that no matter what, I'll fight for my special someone. It's a tough battle and it's not over yet. It's a tough battle cause I have our culture against me, but slowly I'm winning and my perspective in live did a 180 degree turn! Even if I haven't won the battle yet, I know it was worth the fight :) Btw, it's jeepneys not jitneys ;)

He is Filipino. The thing is the way our relationship started out is something frowned upon here in the Philippines. You can almost say that I did the courting between the two of us, just so to prove that I am the worthy choice. Haha.I do hope that he is the one. Well, we're both hoping that we'll be life partners someday. Here's to hoping!

Sometimes you lose the battle but win the war. If it is meant to be...it will...and it never seems to be easy. When you said you have your culture against you I did not quite understand...is your special someone not filipino?

My Life Changing choice? It is to choose Jesus in my life. It really changed me, changed the way i see life, understand things. Living the culture I onced belong is really hard, sometimes, it will still pull you and try to call you back, showing lies that once i known as truth. God said in His word, blessed are those who endures until the end. So no in my Life's journey many will not understand me and my goals for the God i am serving but i am really sure wherever I go, God is there guiding me, and my Choice is 100% guaranteed...with eternal life warranty...

excellent menace -- People normally travel from other parts to usa. u went from here to phil. fine. "I lived a very spoiled life in the USA as compared to my life now. Not to mention I am too tall for the jitneys. lol What are the major life changing choices you have made in the last year? " not many. God brings changes and I accept them. a fellow who was busy for 12 hours a day in chennai in teaching - here spending time in watching movies, mylotting and playing with grandson.(six months old). Yes. I got a work from IOB which helped me earn $3000+. this was done in my absence also by my cousin and colleagues. "God gives us money, pleasure, sorrow whenever we are destined to. Our efforts do not sharpen them."

Ravisivan...It sounds like you have payed your dues in life and you deserve to sit back now. Yes God will give us all we need even when we don't deserve. I prayed long and hard before I came and I felt in my heart that God was saying, Go ahead Dennis because I have more for you to see and do for Me. Most of the friends I left were my fellow church brothers and sisters, and they also prayed for me and agreed. Thank you for responding to my question. And keep playing with your grandson, you are building memories for him and yourself.

My life changing decision was to start trying to make it in writing. I submitted some columns and started a blog, trying to get noticed. One of my stories was published and that was a great feeling. Now I am still struggling trying to get noticed, trying to get my blog some followers and maybe get some more columns published. Bet at least I give it a try. Life is a gamble sometimes and sometimes it works out and sometimes not. Just hoping that the columns will be accepted and the blog gets followers but I can not say that I didnt give it all I had! You also made a real life changing decision, was it really that easy? I mean leaving friends and family behind?

No it was not easy. Leaving friends and family was very tuff. But you know I decided it was time for my happiness. I don't have near here what I had in the USA but I am happier than I can ever remember. You said "But at least I give it a try". Ieniemienie, if I have learned one thing in life it's to always follow your dream. If you make it that's great if you don't, it won't be from lack of trying. Never get old and say I should have. Keep following your dream. Thanks for the response.

I finished my education already in college. But last year, I decided to study again for my masteral degree. I think it was a hard decision for me since I am married with two kids so getting back to school will make me a lot busier.
