Do you making web sites? I make it, but I know how to use HTML and CSS. Now I want to learn PHP language also so I could make more complicated sites in the future. What is your experiences with using just HTML to make some web site? You write codes or you use some editing software?

Yes, it is easy to make websites by using adobe dreamweaver rather than using HTML itself... because you can already design your desired format in adobe photoshop then save it as HTML and for Web, then just open it by using dreamweaver. and it is really easy to desigh and add some features in dreamweaver.

I've made websites in the past. I made my very first website when I was just 10 or 11 years old. It was hosted on AngelFire and was for an online RPG(role-playing game) that me and my friends started together. I was co-owner of the site but I did most of the 'design'. There were no graphics or complicated HTML....just a black background with blue links/text. It didn't really need to look fancy. Then again, at the time there was no way to make websites look the way they look nowadays. A few years after that I designed my first website layout in Photoshop. Looking back on it now, it was horrible, but the owner of the site loved it and used it the whole time the site was up. It was for an online hip-hop community, it was mostly red, and the graphics job on the banner was horrible compared to my work now lol! And last time I really spent time making a website was for my Web Design class about 2-3 years ago. Of course, my design/site was the best, and the teacher even asked me if she could use it for her future students, to show them what they should be striving for. I was honored and of course said yes. Passed that class with flying colors. Since then I haven't done much web design or even just putting up a simple HTML site. I would love to but I'm afraid that HTML is so outdated now, plus I know NOTHING about CSS or PHP. Though I guess it shouldn't be too hard...I mean I did catch on to HTML pretty quickly at a young age. Serginho, maybe you'd like to give me a few tips, or even 'tutor' me in CSS? I'd love to learn even just the basics! Nice discussion, though, brought back a lot of memories from my making website days :)

I haven't done it from scratch. If I were to make a site, its already a ready made site which is easy like blogger or Word press platform for blogging. I would love to learn more in depth programming although I don't have the time to do it. I have a little background only for html and some PL.

About the only html I have ever used on my sites is what is offered from the companies I am working for. Don't know yet how to do much else. I have been taking classess, but got out of them for awhile. I am going to get back into them and learn all that I can. Good luck to you. Do well.

Editing softwares are as valuable as the are the programmer's skils to use that specific language. Tehnically, an editing software ONLY help you win some time. Else, a I said above, you can not do scripts better than you would be able to do writing it in notepad. I use, for my html-css-js-(vb)-php-..., the notepad++, loaded with several plugins which are available also for free. So, that mostly mean I often write the code. It sure help you understanding the code in full and parts and easier to spot bugs . However, while php, for example, it returns html for the browser to put on screen, I ceased to code pages in html, except when is really better option. But often I write page code in php, even if that one page is all what is needed for a certain "site".

For me I created a few personal websites(mostly for friends and family) using HTML , CSS and Javascript. They are the 3 basics of creating good, professional websites. I, too, use Dreamweaver to create and edit my files. It is reliable, has syntax checking and nice ui interface too! For PHP, it is sort of like a server-side script that runs when an object request something from a server. You can use it if you wish to include server side interaction with your client-side script/website.

Making websites is lot of fun.To make a good Website you need many things HTML,CSS,Javascript,PHP,Java,XML..etc Learning these languages is quite simple you can mostly go through youtube tutorials and you will get the idea of the languages. Now select some E-books and go through in detail. For writing Codes you can use *Notepad++: This a good software. It supports HTML,CSS,Javascript, etc *PHP Designer: This is relatively comples coding but User friendly. Supports all in addition to PHP,C#,Java,Perl. This is the King of Web designing For editing you can Use *Dreamweaver *Selida *Gimp *Coffee cup *pixia
