Isn't facebook coming out of place?

Hi, I'm not against facebook at all, I'm again the wrong use of it. Facebook was originally made to connect Harvard students and then opened to the world, still to CONNECT people. From the first moment I found facebook really useful, I moved from Spain (where I'm from) to London for few years, and I thought what a great tool to keep in touch with my friend back home...also a way to meet more people in London, since I didn't know many people there at the beginning, and it really worked, I used to write on my friends wall, and get invited to good events, and then post some pictures of those events, or trips or party etc... but from couple of years ago, it's been quite anoying logging into my facebook account, and I gess is the same for everyone, I mean, people now share too much, it even isn't share, it is just talk and say silly things, there's a lot more of advertising and is used most of the time just to know what other people is doing and not to share it with them... What I mean is that facebook isn't been used for I think was made anymore and that's why I considering closing my account up... Do you think the same? Or you see it different. Cheers. =) D

Hi dmiangrcia, Well this is the plus and minus of FB. Most of the negative features have attracted many towards FB. Too much of personal information is like anyone can know anyones update so easily.

Facebook is doing exactly what it was intended for, bridging the gap between people and giving them a place to connect and talk, weather it be through status messages, games or their chat feature. And, over the years that hasn't changed. While some status messages may seem silly to you, they aren't for everyone or to everyone. When posting on a wall or on your status, you don't have to be serious all of the time. It's perfectly okay to write something goofy, or off-the-wall. It may be because someone's bored and need something to do, or maybe they're trying to reach someone because Facebook is the only way they can connect. Or, in some cases it's a way to keep in-touch with family especially kids who are busy. In sone cases cheeper and faster then calling or texting since that's where mobile carriers make their money. There is nothing wrong with Facebook. As long as people aren't using it to break the law, then you shouldn't be bothered by what they post. So personally, no I do not feel its intent has deminished the growth of users has expanded so much so that people find various uses for that "status". I'll even admit posting off-the-wall things to my status (usually from third-party applications) but despite this, I see no harm in it.

I don't know but if it affects you seeing what others post then just hide them or just ignore. There are many ways to filter your account even if you don't have to close you r account, but this is up to your decision. On my part, I use FB for my family and close friends, I don't accept those whom I don't know and I set a filter for my settings so that I can be assured nobody is going to do anything mischievous. I only disseminate information that will inform my friends and family and I used the site mainly for helping my blog boost a bit because the site is free. I'm a blogger and FB is really helping me a lot. I would never want to close my account for this matter. Its just a matter of your choice then.
