Are you PRO RH BILL or ANTI RH BILL? Well, we heard on national TV about this issue. On newspapers and radio stations as well, this issue has been nagging us all over. Filipinos nowadays are numb about the religious values that we used to have. If you give them this kind of explanation, they will turn skeptical. Because true enough, the Philippines is overcrowded and getting poorer. However, is this RH BILL thing the only solution for this problem? TV influences us so much. And as I observe, many of the people I know are agreeable to RH Bill because of the strong advocacy by most of the politicians for this. But do we really know what we are agreeing with? Knowledge about the contents on this RH BILL is very important. As much as I want to share with you the link, but my being a newbie here doesn't allow me to. So, kindly google jlp-law.com/blog/full-text-of-house-bill-no-5043-reproductive-health-and-popultion-development-act-of-2008/ . Kindly take your time to read on this. What is your stand for this?

I didn't took time to read the link you gave since 1) you gave the wrong link and 2) I don't need to. I really don't push myself that I am pro with this since I don't really think that there is something big change occurring when this bill becomes successful, nor if unsuccessful. I can confidently say that it would be good to pass this even without reading the bill's contents since the morale that the church is insistently protecting is no longer there. This so-called morale is long gone. So my question is, what or maybe "who" does the church protect? There is really nothing changing with our continuing debates. Rather than progressing, we are becoming hindrances to each other. So, who's the lucky beneficiary?

Exactly...that question of yours can be answered from the link I am trying to paste here...but I am not allowed to post it here with the limit numbers I have as a member of mylot. However, the contents of this link tell us that RH Bill is more of a destructive effect rather than its good reason the politicians are trying to pursue us. And yes, the morale is long gone, that is why Filipinos are no longer convinced with the church. But the point here is, why bother pursue the bill when RH has been promoted long time ago? In the City Health Office and municipalities, we know already that artificial contraceptives are already been there since for free. And it's up to the couple which options they want for family planning...

About the link you should've posted - what does it say when you try to paste the link? I don't think that I can make a rebuttal for your opinion. What I'm concerned of is the motif of the people revolving in this issue.

My bad, I just read this message. I cannot believe that I don't get the notifications for replies of my comments. there are a lot that I missed and I am catching up just now. anyways, about the RH BILL link... It stated there the conditions in which in a couple, a partner cannot ask for the opinion of the other half. Let's say, the wife wants a ligation, in the RH BILL, it is legal for a wife not to consult her husband for the decision-making for her own birth control method and vice versa. there are still more conditions there regarding family decision-making. This bill is not family-oriented. About the motive for this proposal, the bottom line here, EXPANSION OF BUDGET for artificial birth control. Therefore, expansion of CORRUPTION.

I think it would have been better if you started this discussion under the Philippines topic since not all who visits q & a topic are Filipinos. To answer your question...I am pro-RH bill. I have read the bill and there is not even one remote item there which will violate the teachings of the Catholic Church. The use of contraceptives has long been a normal practice of many developed and civilized countries. Our country has been repressed and its progress slowed down by unrelenting corruption and ultra-conservative strain of Catholicism still practiced in our country but has long been abandoned in other countries including Spain which originally introduced it to our culture. The RH Bill is the answer to the alarming overpopulation that contributes to the poverty and hunger experienced by many of our people. The Filipino Catholic Church fear they will lose their chokehold on the people as what happened in developed nations if their lives become better. This institution has long become an obsolete, and in my opinion, is not what Christianity is all about.

Hi greenpeas, I guess you are right. this topic must be under Philippines. I didn't choose Philippines yet in my interest before. Is there a way to change this? I was not pertaining to the teachings of catholics in which i am Anti- RH BIll. I believe it is not a strong reason to persuade the Filipinos for ANTI RH BILL. Have you read the conditions underneath the RH BILL? The intention of proposing this is for a good cause. However, in the condition they stated there on the bill is that it is prohibiting the decision-making of both spouses for their own method of birth control. It means, the wife, for example, can decide her own method like ligation without consulting her husband. And same independence goes with the husband as well. The husband, for example, can decide on his own for vasectomy, etc. And this is not good for the family. The couple is supposed to plan together and decide together. Isn't this the vow they made for each other for marriage? The bottomline here is, this Bill will destroy our family ties. I hope everyone will be aware of it. the problem with the people under this bill is that they don't allow the Filipinos to know what's in the bill. They simply campaign for PRO to get what they want---The money.

I am pro Rh bill because we are already over populated and the government is only helping us in our economic crisis that we encountered now a days.Parents should be responsible also in making a family and choose what is the best contraceptive method for them because some contraceptive methods are not effective to them that would lead them for unwanted pregnancy that the church had fear that it may lead for a abortion.

I am PRO RH Bill. It is one best way of addressing not only over population but it this can be a precursor for a better and economically successful country. Over population is also a major contributor to global warming. Although indirectly, the theory by one experts prove to be true. He said that every single person produces an amount of waste per day. That includes the urine, garbage, etc. Cope with all our daily activities we affect our environment greatly and the more the population the more we are sadly doing some harm to our planet. That is why is Bill will greatly help. I would also hope that our government would not just bank on this Bill, but also try on some more ways to help address our country's problem.
