I heard that Yao Ming will be retired from his basketball career soon. What do you think about it? I think many Chinese basketball fans may be disappointed to it. He is a famous basketball player star. Wondering when there will be another star like him

I think he can still be a nice back up player if he stays healthy. He can still provide good basketball plays with limited minutes. Considering his size, I think many teams can still use him. But I think he should only be limited to off the bench and also limit his playing time. Yes, it is quite disappointing that a nice career in basketball fall under the hands of injuries yet again. But I saw from a news that he opted to retire because of his family member's concern if Yao continues to play basketball. Really, injuries are a plague to a player's career.

Perhaps he can be a teacher, coach or a commercial star?

Its the right decision for him right now. You can't go on playing if you already have recurring injuries. On the other hand, its quite a sad ending specially for a player like him. He was one of the celebrated stars to play in the NBA largely because of his height. He proved that on the court with his good plays but injuries just pulled him down. Its rather sad that he have not enjoyed much playing time because of injuries. Let's just hope he can still succeed on a different career. He can be a new antagonist of a sci-fi film lol. But really, Yao is a huge loss to the basketball industry.

It is a wise choice for him to resolutely retire at the height of his basketball career. There is no evergreen in sport world. He will retire from that early or later. No doubt there is no lack of successors.

Yao Ming is undeniably a star player in basketball world. I think his frequence injuries forced him to make such decision. However, as his loyal fans, no matter how he decides we should support him all the way. Perhaps he has another way out besides continue his career in basketball world. He is a player or person which everyone feels respectful at.

The way I see it, old (experienced) players step aside, and make room for the new ones. The future is long, and there's liable to be another one just as great. Of couse one player can not replace the other, but new ones and good ones will always come along.
