Abusing Celebrities

Well. I won't be embarrassed to say this and I definitely hope to not offend anyone with this discussion. But i really think some Celebrities are Abusing their fans to create accounts and liking them. Isn't this cheating? I mean. Who wants to have 8 million "facebook" likes but only 6-7 million "people" likes. Why do i say this? I have a childhood friend who is a celebrity right now in our country. And she definitely approached me and tried to convince me to do this irritating act. She's famous. Why does she need "likes" since we already "love" her. Have you guys experienced the same?

Well, the blame can't be put upon the celebrities themselves. They are as powerful as as the fans would let them, so if these fans follow what these celebrities bid them to do then I can't really see any abuse but rather stupidity.

Now you made me realize what i did lol. Maybe your right. But according to the responses here, it really depends. But I think you do have a point there. If you were to become the celebrity but is lacking publicity, would you go to the effort of asking your friends to do this kind of act for you?

Maybe it depends on how badly you need it. Or if it does something good for them right?

My friends won't probably be obligated to do anything I ask.

Hi Annihilation! Welcome to mylot! I do have a celebrity friend too but thank God she really is a friend to me. She never asked me to do the same. Who knows? Maybe your friend needs more publicity. Maybe she's dreaming of being known not only in your country but overseas as well. Having an 8 million likes on facebook is a big thing and will surely catch the attention of big time producers, probably of Hollywood. Abusing her fans? Not 'till she bribes you or insists but if it's a favor she asked you in a nice way, then you might consider your friendship as a motivation in helping her with her career. :)

Thank you for the warm welcome. And may I say that your oh so pretty. Haha. Off-topic. Anyway, I honestly thought about it the same way. It's just that, won't she feel better if she got those 8million likes without her asking for help. I think that if she really did get legitimate 8 million votes. She'd think that maybe half or one-fourth of those are the same people. If it were me and i did such an act, I'd definitely want to make another account because I wont feel proud to have that kind of statistics.. =)

Thank you! :D Well, you have a point. It's even better to have real 8 million fans rather than only 4 million and make people believe your friend got a double number of fans. Try suggesting her to recommend her facebook page to others instead of creating multiple accounts just so she could get more likes. It's fair and easier. :)

Hi, ANNIHILATION. I don't know of any celebrity personally that would actually do something like this. I can say that many celebrities that I may like already, are doing this. I think that it is unfair to gain publicity by persuasion. If they want a fan to really like them, then they should just be "likable". Being liked all of the time, isn't always so much of fun. If this celebrity that is in your town of living is trying to get more likes, I think that she is just being too greedy.

I have friends who are members of some bands. They asked me to like their page. Some people are not really celebrities but they asked people to like their page. I don't really mind. They want to get many support as much as they could.

This is facebook trends so everybody wants it. Liking in facebook is full of deceits and lies, but still companies are going crazy about this stuff of liking in facebook as if everyone really likes them. Some even offer tasks just for this stinking likes in facebook!

Yeah. I noticed some who wants publicity makes people like them and giving out freebies. That's like buying their likes isn't it? Well, I do also do that like for freebies. I lose nothing anyway and gain something for free so I just like and claim freebies and then leave them for the heck of it.

Hi annihilation, PUBLICITY AND POPULARITY GOES HAND IN HAND. If your popular friend has asked you to do such an act that probably irritates you, then, it could be that, she wants to expand her publicity to lot more regions or countries. Since, you very well know that, these days, facebook is a global thing, the more the number of likes, the more could the person be known world over. Anyways, being a friend of her, you could take pride in helping her by giving her more likes and making her more and more popular world over. :)

That's what i did since and until now. haha. I'd love to help her. But I think she doesn't need those kind of help back then until now. What if you had a friend who became a celebrity? Would you do the effort of making her/him famous on facebook?

I have a friend who is famous for being a member of a famous local band therefore a celebrity, but he was the exact opposite of what you are describing. He is really humble and very much just easy to be with. He would bring us to his gigs and we would just hang out like buddies, have some laughs, and just the usual stuff. I guess, it's a person to person basis. Some people love the attention and would go through many things to get it, while others just remain humble the way you knew them, or even more humble when they become famous.

Hi Annihilation, This is really sad to hear. Anything done with full interest gets the real credit and fame. So as by forcing someone, it will definitely gonna bring their fame down as celebrities. I am sorry for you and your friend who made u to do so.!

No, I haven't. And I wouldn't bother doing these things. I guess the reason is clear and simple-that's show business. And it's a part of being a celebrity. And it really sounds awkward as to why the have to do this.
