I don't find Family Guy to be funny

I don't find this show to be truly funny and I never have nor will. Yes I may laugh at this show when it is on but I don't find it to be intelligent nor witty. All this show is, is a low-brow version of the Simpsons. I say that because Family Guy rips off all it's plots from the Simpsons. Yeah I may laugh at a stupid thing happening in this show but remember stupidity is much different from hilarity.

lol. I don't think that it's like Simpsons at all. I have watched many, many episodes of both and they are not the same at all. What plots exactly do you think that they ripped off? And I certainly do think that it's funny. I guess you just don't get this kind of humor. That's okay.

First off I do get the humor its just not humorous to me. Second off the break down... Homer/Peter both blue collar working fat drunks, Have 3 kids, a baby and two teens, and the attractive wife that every other character hits on. Their houses look the same on the inside. Remember when Bryan was in heat and goes to the dog track? That happened in the simpsons with santas little helper.

Well actually, quite a bit of sitcoms have the same type of family too or close. This isn't due to one copying the other, but it gains the attention of the audience. Tons of shows use the fat, dumb, drunken father and the hot mom. According to Jim, Flintstones, Still Standing. And it's not as if three children are uncommon. Though the children in the Simpsons are in elementary, not teenagers. The Simpsons's episode with Santas Little Helper, was inspired by 101 dalmatians and the song Mr. Burns sings is a parody of "Be My Guest" from Beauty and The Beast. So don't act like that is an original. But besides that one scene, the episodes aren't similar at all. Besides this, anything else? I mean, it's not a plot ripped off; it's a scene. There are tons of tv shows with tons of similar scenes. Yeah, I don't think that The Simpsons and Family Guy are similar at all.

I agree. There sometimes are parts that are funny, but it's usually just so stupid it's funny. There isn't really any smart humor in it. Some stuff is just so outrageous and unrealistic. I don't watch it very often.

I'm glad someone else in TV land has a brain and isn't dragged under easily.

Oh geez. Me too I'm on the same boat. What I hate most about it is it's just NOT funny. I don't get why people think it's humorous, do you think RAEP jokes are funny? No. But hey maybe they're using the Aristocrat technique the more shock value the better, the more controversy the better. What happened to being witty and being clever? What happened to using your brain in formulating a brilliant joke that doesn't need to be insulting? But seriously though I can't compare this show with The Simpsons, The Simpsons is much of higher quality (even though honestly speaking it's going downhill since the early 2000's) at least they don't resort to crummy humor like what Family Guy depends on.

The point of Family Guy is to really entertain without much thinking being put to it. Comparing Simpsons and Family Guy for originality is a really bad choice mainly because Simpsons has been around long enough to cover every possible scenario.

I agree with you on this. I watch quite a bit of both and this seems pretty accurate!

I haven't seen Simpsons much but I know for a reason that Family Guy and Simpsons are nothing alike. Simpsons is funny in terms of the characters and the plot whereas Family Guy is funny as in making jokes of Hollywood and stuff.
