Cats??? Whew..

I didn't know cats did that. I knew other animals did. That's really sad and shocking. :( I love cats though.

Most cats here in NYC are considered feral cats. That means, they do not live anywhere but in the streets and they are scavengers. They will eat whatever they have to to survive. I love cats myself, but I cannot be around them because I am allergic to them. What I like most about cats is that they are totally independent.

if cats are spayed they can't have babies - and so won't eat them... and there will be that many fewer unwanted cats in the world...

What would cause a mother to do such a thing? The animal kingdom is fascinating. Of all the things you think would be possible, abandoning the children, or taking them elsewhere, and having someone trustworthy take care of them, eating ones own offspring is not something U would ever expect from any spices.

The cat knows better what it's doing. We may guess some reasons why she eat her babies but we don't know the true. Its her nature. I am bit sensitive with animals fur so I am not into cats so much but anyway they are all sweet..(^^)

Too bad to hear that horrible scene from you. I also love cats for they are adorable and cute. I can't imagine the mother cat eating her kittens. I mean, cats are lovable animals, they love to feed and watch their babies. May be the cat was hungry and can't take this overpowering hunger that it took this loving cat to eat her kittens? I don't know the reason behind that thing but this is the first time I heard such a heinous act by a cat. Well, they are animals so they are not that intellectually inclined. For them, it's quite alright to eat anything as long as they're hungry. I think your cat's story is another case.
