I like a well-rounded life...

I hesitated putting this under "Religion" because I like a well-rounded life, so this discussion's not entirely about religion, it's my life, really. First of all, I do have a faith, I lean towards the Messianic Jewish faith after years of Bible study, research on Church history, visiting other churches, etc, and researching online, and being brutally honest with myself and my questions and reflections. So yes, I definitely do believe in G-d, and I do pray to Him. I don't really associate with religious people, because I find they can be so judgmental, and I've even lost some close friends who were religious because I didn't measure up to their standards. But what can I say? I'm open and honest about issues, and that's who I am. I used to be strict Christian, I mean American Fundamentalist style, reaaaaaaallllllly strict, Jerry Falwell's craziness strict. I used to be opposed to Teletubbies because there was a teaching somewhere that one of them was gay! But on a serious side, I found that this school of thought was very depressing and oppressive, it doesn't give me room to reason within myself and for me to do research on what the Bible says - just accept it because it's what it's taught here in the Western Hemisphere. I like to focus on all aspects of life. Everything interests me, really. I love culture, world religions, philosophy, ancient history, current events, and ... well, people in general. I like psychology and behavioural sciences, health issues - and here comes "The Taboo" - s.e.x I may sound like a heathen to the religious folks here, but really, we do have to have a balance in life, eh? I don't go around cheating on my husband and cursing everything up and down, or go partying, I"m not a wild girl. In fact I'm rather conservative, nothing low-cut, and pretty much adhere to my personal religious convictions, but maaannn....people get the shock of their lives when I agree the marijuana should be legalised (health-wise) and that I lean towards socialism in politics!!! Ah, yes, life is exciting, isn't it? :-D

Having a well-rounded life really sounds exciting because you'll experience something from both worlds. The things that people see as bad and good, you'll be experiencing a bit of something from them. But I think that no desire should be more than enough for each because too much of everything isn't good at all.

Oh, I'm not out and partying, but I do like to explore ideas and test them against Biblical principles, not church doctrines, a lot of time churches forbid stuff that's not forbidden in the Bible.

Yeah, I agree. The church seems to be adding restrictions to what's not really necessarily restricted. That's one of the things I hate about them. They're playing boss when they're really not.

Life is definitely an adventure and exciting... I think we have the same way of thinking, I am catholic, I do believe in god and pray regularly, but I have my limits I am not one of those that live for the religion and are strict. I do have acquintances, which at one I considered good friends, that were 24/7 in the religion and everything was evil and the devil and they were always opinionated about my thoughts, living, it got frastrating and little by little I detached myself from them because it got annoying. I personally think there's a limit to everything.

That's probably what's better, I suppose, some people are just plain fanatics, and that in itself isn't healthy emotionally.
