We are in Indonesian tread, then I will say the good teacher is "Do best to teach not only in theory but do act to be the best in action because "Guru kencing berdiri murid akan kencinging guru...."

A good teacher should be a good example. He or she should give simple instructions and examples that his/her students could easily understand. A good teacher gives a heck about his students and would really want them to understand not just teach for their salary.

it's because when the student do anything wrong, the first thing to ask if where is his/her teacher, or is this the way your teacher teach you? the same also to parents, the way their children behave reflects the everyday situations in the home of that child.

It takes a lot of patience to be a good teacher. One must really enjoy being a teacher to be able to enjoy doing a great job teaching students. So the best thing would be to really enjoy teaching others which means that they too should allow room to learn and grow also as a teacher. Teaching means one has lots of different personalities they encounter in people so patience is certainly a virtue.

To be a good teacher, we must teach with "passion". In fact, in whatever job we do, we must do it with passion. Then it will result the best for us and everyone around us. The other answers I've read above, I think has the same point of mine. Well, it's just my two cents ... :)

i think teachers sometimes listen to any one of his students explanation or reasons because sometimes, it add new information's and new techniques... as advantages to their teachings....

for example: if the teacher's major subject is all about Computer (Basic Operations to Intermediate) and if happens that one of his student is a computer nerd or wizard... because that student parents are a very well known computer technicians and an advance programming... therefore, that student is an all time exposed learning knowledge to his parents watching and learning as bonding while observing everytime the parents are on it's job.... it's a big possibility that many of that student's advanced learned in the field of computers are basic to intermediate knowledge on that teacher....

Hi adhyz: I agree with you on the fact that being a teacher is one of the most important and unfortunetly underrated jobs in the whole world. If you want to be a teacher you should have a special talent to talk with people. You can know a lot of things but it's not only the knowledge but the way you communicate your thoughts. A good teacher is the one who make their students enjoy new knowledge and keep asking questions. You have to understan people with different temperaments so it's difficult and that's the reason why not everybody could be a teacher. ALVARO

One can be a good teacher if he loves teaching, first and foremost. A teacher must have patience, empathy, compassion, mastery of his subject matter and must emphasize "learning by doing", instead of just listening or watching. In learning by doing, the student is able to retain what he learns in his memory.
