Blame it on the system

Today I went to the Department of Foreign Affairs to renew my passport. They came up with a system wherein you will have to get an appointment before you can apply or renew a passport. You can get an appointment thru internet. You will be free to choose your own schedule, time and date. So I finally got my appointment together with my Mom. Our schedule was 11:00am. It says on the appointment that you should be there 30 minutes before you schedule. We were not allowed to enter the building until 10:30am. Wow, there was really a crowd outside. I thought by getting an appointment it will be easier to do the process. But not! I've speculated that they don't limit the slots for a certain schedule. That's why there was overcrowding. I've asked my friends who got their renewal and they said it was quick and easy. A friend finished an hour and a half while another less than an hour. So I thought it was that quick. It took us 3 long hours just for step 1. After that it was really quick getting to steps 2 & 3. I don't know who to blame but the government should really look into it. After all we are paying taxes and we are paying the processing fees so we deserve to be treated well.

Your thread suddenly reminded me to check my passport. I will also check if renewal can be done here at the Davao Passport Control Office or whatever they call this office now of the DFA branch in Davao City.
