what is niche marketing? how to choose one that works better?

Instead of asking this question i apparently admit that i have no idea about niche marketing. As far as i concern niche marketing means a part of a niche best anology will be a single fruit of a whole banyan. But my quest is how to choose a niche market that return a worth for the time and energy that i have spent on it. I am hereby mean that choosing a niche market without having any experience i would like to know about the particular niche market from the experienced person before step into it. I incessantly looking forward for your answer.
