Recently I come across a few kind of online jobs on many freelancer marketplace and TURK/HIT workplaces. 1. Some employers ask for draw a boundary of human (man or woman), chair, cow, car, etc. from a image. for example check it out: http://www.cs.berkeley.edu/~smaji/mturk/segmentation/tutorial/chair/index.html http://www.cs.berkeley.edu/~smaji/mturk/segmentation/tutorial/cow/index.html 2. Some employers shows a person's photo and ask for description of his/her dress. for example: http://171.64.93.201/hchen/cloth_examples/SkinExposure.jpg http://171.64.93.201/hchen/cloth_examples/SleeveLength.jpg http://171.64.93.201/hchen/cloth_examples/PatternLayout.jpg http://171.64.93.201/hchen/cloth_examples/Buttons.jpg 3. some employers survey for peoples' personal and political interests, opinions on political events, (secret) desires, religious/spiritual thoughts, and so on. Some including personally identifiable information (but they don't accept them). And they all are paying an amount for that jobs. 1.) Why they collect those kind of information? 2.) What are the uses of them? 3.) What are going behind them? 4.) What would say by human rights? 5.) There is any rules protect freelancers? If you know anything, or have a thought/guess about them, please share them. Thanks in advance.

If you think about these types of tasks / hits/ turk as being mini surveys it will help you understand a lot more. It's like polling the masses, trying to find out who and what and where and why. I know a turk site that always has plenty of those!

thanks for your reply. Please note my 1st and 2nd points I noted. What are the benefits from it? why they collect boundary of objects/persons? What are the reasons for asking us for peoples' (upper) dresses? They not asked if it is pretty, but its description. So what and why? I dont know. explain you or anyone my lotters!
