One of my colleague is in his fifties with another 5 or 6 years to go before retirement, married very late in life and his children are still very young in primary school and the only asset he has is an old house in a village on the outskirts of the city, which he has inherited from his parents and now a sharing with his brother and he has plenty of problems at home.He takes two buses every day to reach the school and it is very difficult for him to come on time during monsoon rains since part of the pathway through the fields leading to his house gets submerged. He carries a fresh pair of dress for himself and the children which he changes into after reaching school because he literally gets submerged in muddy water. Yesterday, the management decided that his salary will be s cut this month since he has been repeatedly coming late. All of us were feeling bad for him since he has no other income except the salary which is nothing great ,and went collectively to the chair person and made him aware of the facts .But my colleague was just smiling and taking it without any ill feeling towards them - his philosophy is that what happens will happen. If they feel that I don't deserve to be paid then I cant help it.I have to bring my children safely to the school and that is my priority. Today, he has come early since there was no rain , he and the two children carrying huge bagfuls of tender and soft ginger grown in his garden to give to everyone which is available only now during monsoon and here in Mangalore most people make a preserve out of it which is very tasty. He also gave a bagful to the chairman. I am amazed at his nature. He is so positive and keeps telling us that 1, things will not get better by constantly worrying about them 2, There is always something to be happy about ... I feel it is the Right attitude to have...

Hello Kiran ji, Your colleague is from a village. I feel that peoples of villages are much simple, if they suffer some loss than they forgot it after short period. They never take it so serious that they are in dipression. More over villager have positive attitude. Your colleague never take it seriously that his salary cut by management. It is his nature.

Anil,Everybody is the same whether they come from a town or a village, in fact I come from a small village close to Mangalore called maroli, so I know how the village mentality works. They are smart and cunning in matters that is necessary,so we cannot generalise. That's what I meant...

Hi anil, thanks a lot for your responseIt is not necessary that villagers are either simple or positive. They may be ignorant about many things and that may make them look simple and also positive because of the same reason. It is a trait that is developed and also partly genetic I feel !all the best anil

Hello, Kiran. I couldn't help smiling while reading this post. Truly your friend is a man of positive thought. I must agree with him. If things are bound to happen they will happen. If it is bad, do not wallow with it but move on because wallowing in such a bad state will not make things better but rather might worsen the situation. Holding grudge against someone isn't good also, both mentally and physically. So, better to forgive and make yourself a better person no matter what other people think of you or no matter what the circumstances are. I believe that your friend will survive and will become successful in life. He is truly living his life in a worthy manner. He is an inspiration.

It is lovely that your colleague always says that there is something to be happy about. He has a happy married man with two young children. He likes where he lives and he doesn't let any problems get him down. It was a shame that his salary will be reduced by his lateness. It was amazing that he was still smiling after he was told this. Problems are not solved by worrying about them. It seems like he takes any problems happily in his stride. He is having a successful life by being so happy go lucky. In life is best to know what he or she wants. It is an idea to have a top hobby that the person is very good at. It is wise not to let problems get the person stressed. Smiling and being happy will be be superb for others around that person. I know what it is like to take two trains or two buses to work. It is awful to arrive late at work but it is unavoidable in the Monsoon season.

I agree that when a person has a positive outlook towards he tends to spread this to others around him as well !Thankfully the chairman has agreed not to cut his salary this month, but one can never be sure about the future, since the monsoons last for another month or two ,thanks a lot maximax and all the best

Hi kiran, I feel pity for your colleague. He is straggling hard to maintain his family. It is the fate of all middle class people of India. Late marriage is always bad. Your colleague's children should reach at final stage of school. However your other colleague's attitude to him should be sympathetic. The step taken against him by the authority is really cruel. But your ill fated colleague has a broad heart. He is a responsible father also.

Hi bhanu, Thanks a lot for your response I agree that for most middle class people life is a struggle and if one is also morose and negative about all the troubles they face then life becomes even more difficult. So, it is even more important that people should be positive in their outlook...The authorities have however agreed not to cut his salary this month, but one can never be sure what they will do in the future ..

Great nature he is having.. I feel the same way. One of my family members always used to take more tension in any situation. And I always try to tell him that situation will not be good by doing worries.. Positive attitude is so important to come out from any worse situation. Because negative thinking will make the situation more worse. Even I always try to be like this.

Kiranji, thanks for sharing about your friend in details, the management is right, they have to go as per guidelines, though the action may appear bad at times, your friend is also right in his attitude, seems he is a kind, good and extremely social person, his late marriage is his karma.. giving ginger may not have any effect.. Yes, things will not move in better way, if one gets worried too much, better to take things easy.. Happy posting, cheers. Kalyani

Hi Kalyaniji, thanks a lot for your response...I agree that my colleague is a very nice person, however I am not sure whether marrying late is his Karma or choice !When I dont know why you wrote that giving ginger may not have any effect? I wrote about his bringing ginger to show how positive he is, inspite of the admins telling him that they would cut his pay, he is ready to distribute what he has to others including the school management...The management has also rethought and decided not to deduct his wages this month...all the best and happy mylotting

Well I used to get advice from friends and well wishers to be always positive in life.Worrying of course never pays.worrying about the past is killing. It torments. But just advice is not enough though. You'll have to find ways how to counter what makes you worry and tackle problems with a right decision.Whatever big or small being positive really pays and keeps one alive for another day!!

Hi bravo, thanks a lot for your responseWorrying about past and even the present is not going to help us.What is needed is to find some solution which would solve our problem and worries...If there is no solution available then of course there is just no point in worrying lol...all the best

Of course being positive is very necessary for being a happily life. Because it is a key to live a happy life without any problems. Life is the name of facing sorrow so face every problem with happy. And one day you become habitual of living a good and perfect life. Yes this is true because I have seen many persons who have many problems in their life but they never show problems on their face and always fight with their problem with sweet smiles on their face. And at the end they get success over their problems.

Hi anurag, thanks a lot for your responseI agree with what you say, we have to develop a positive outlook right from our childhood.Parents should inculcate this attitude in their children. What you say is right when there is a positive attitude in a person he will never be unhappy for long, will take everything in their stride..all the best
