pond plant question

So I decide to start building a pond right after they announce a heat wave in the US. in Louisiana. Yes I know I'm crazy. Anyway I'm almost through digging, ill probably finish tomorrow, so here comes the next phase. And I have no clue what plants to put in this thing. It's not real big, 6x10 and I'm only going to put a few goldfish in it, so it doesn't have to be covered in plants. But for those who have a fish pond, what should I put in it? And any pics are welcome too. I still have time to rearrange things. Thanks

I would put in waterlilies, as they are beautiful to view in bloom. My pond has 4 of them. Also Iris and Cattails are easy to grow and would be easy to take care of now. Have fun with your pond.
