Igloo - Eskimo's house, an Igloo
Canada

When my sister was a baby, she wouldnt sleep. Mom would put her to bed and she would start crying. I didnt want my parents to get mad at her (no my parents werent violent) but since I was sleeping in the same room, I would kneel at the foot of my bed and reach through the bed and rub her bum while singing. I would sing the same song I had learned in school and she would stop crying and soon sleep, but as soon as Id stop rubbing her bum, she would wake up. So I would start singing softly again, yes the same song and then Id fall asleep at the foot of my bed, still rubbing her bum. Mom finally caught me and she decided to send me on a visit to my favorite aunt so they could "train" my sister to sleep by herself. She did apparently after 10 minutes!!! Well my sister and I are much older now and the other day, she mentioned that song I was singing. I do remember a few lines but thats it. I tried to google it, tried to ask some people who collect folklore music, but I still cant find it. Would you know where I could find an old song? It was a french song about an Eskimo named Igloo. Are there special records that I could look into that Im not aware of?

I do not know of any special sites for that, but let me say that if I do find out, I will let you know. I have a recording I am looking for myself. You were a sweet and loving older sister.

I can't find out it ,after searching it on Baidu-a search engine here.I guess it is wonderful and far from a cradlesong, because you have got it on the brain.I am very moved by your story. You were a sensible child and like a grown-up child by then. You shared your parents cares of your own accord ,meantime it goes to show, you deeply loved your sister.

Thank you for going through all this trouble. I believe its a Canadian folk songs, so I dont think you'll find it on your search engine. I contacted the religious congregation and a nun did reply saying she'll look in their records to see if she can find it. So im waiting to hear from her now. Yes I do love my sister and my brothers!!
