Libel and slander are collectively known as defamation. Both involves communication of a false or wrong information about a person, a certain group, and entity. Libel is a defamation that can be seen such as writing, printing, using a statue, and others. Slander is a defamation that is spoken and heard. Spreading a gossip falls into this category.
