Are marriages truly split down the middle when pertaining to finances and responsibilities. As most people believe when getting married everything we do and have will be half mine and half yours.Seems in a bad marriage its never that way until divorce court.

I would say that in marriage there should be a joint account where both of your earnings go into. Then, use this account to pay for finances and whatever else. In marriage, I don't think it should be 50/50 on paying for things because what if the other person has a higher paying job? And essentially, all the money would belong to the couple, excluding any personal savings that they had.

i agree. 50/50 would never work. just pay the bills with both money added into the account and thats it. it doesnt matter if one makes more than the other. your money is his money and his money is your money.

Exactly. The couple would go nuts figuring out whose money was whose and in the end it could lead to some real problems. Marriage is a lifetime partnership and both of their money has to go to the same place so it shouldn't really matter about splitting it because that's really not what marriage is about.

I believe after being married for 17 years that so often people say that a marrige is 50/50 but truth be told it isn't always 50/50. Sometimes it may be 40/60, 80/20, and so forth. As for as money I don't believe in his/ hers but ours and in the case that their is a separation everything should be split 50/50 except for the things that were individual owned before marriage. I don't feel that one should get more than any other regardless of the gender. However, if there are children involved then of course that should be considered.

Well for me it is 50/50, in the same way that when they get divorced thy get 50/50. Is the same what is happening with the actor Michael Douglas that he has to give three hundred millions of dollars and stays with three hundred millions always of his fortune. Yes is 50/50.
