What is the best thing to do for having a curly hair?

My curly hair is bothering me. I always keep it long so it's easy to tie it up. I spent long time by just fixing my curly hair and I hate it. When I start earning I let it re-bonded until I got preggy for my first baby but my OB-Gyne don't want me to go to the parlor to avoid risk for the baby. Rebonded hair is too expensive. The price is okay for me when I was single I can certainly afford it but when I already have my precious baby the budget for my hair went to my baby's needs. For now, my hair is curly again and I tie it up always. What I'm gonna do with my curly hair? Looks like I'm an alien when I let it loose. So awful.

I have a wavy near curly hair so I can't really say its too curly. Before, that was my problem but I got over it. I learned how to braid and hairdos for curly hair in youtube. I learned all kinds of styles I can use for my hair and it was very handy. not the simple kind, but the french braids too, since it will help keep the monster hair from going all directions. Also, I thought about that not everyone who tie their hair is ugly. It's just how one style their hair. And I make sure my hair gets treated well, like preventing dryness with oil treatment or use of conditioners and mild shampoo.I only let loose my hair whenever I am at home or going to sleep. I am not ashamed of my natural hair anymore since I was born with these. Natural is beautiful as long as we take care of it. best wishes on your pregnancy! goodluck and take care!

I do braiding to my hair too but it takes time to do that and I do have a cute lil baby to take care of. I used hot oil twice a week but still I can feel for sometime the itchy feeling on my scalp maybe because of the chemicals used in rebonding. Rebonding makes my hair dry but I don't have any choice just to make my hair straight.

I think it is good to take regular hot oil massage to hair and it is good for hair.

you should leave you conditioner in! my boss has really really curly hair and what she does is she washes it, once with shampoo, then conditions it and rinses that out too.. then she puts a little bit of conditioner in her hair, and leaves it, and lets her hair dry naturally. then when its dry, she uses leave in conditoner, sprays it all over her head, and tongs a few bits.. and its gorgeous. but if she just left her hair naturally its awful, really frizzy and a mess. so i would suggest this :)

thats what all the conditioner in it does to it! makes it really soft :) :) you can buy this stuff online called moroccan oil.. it's quite expensive, but it even works on afro hair to make it really smooth and soft. you put on onto your hair when its wet.. it's amazing. my hair is bleached blonde, so it would end up frizzy now and again, but this stuff's amazing. look it up online, or on ebay!

I think curly hair is nice too. The only thing to keep hair looking good either straight or curly is to treat it with conditioner, or deep conditioner that is done once a week. You can also try applying warm olive oil once in a while as hot oil. Wrap it in plastic shower cap to heat it a little more. Then take a shower and shampoo and condition. It saves you money. Apply more on the tips and less on the roots to prevent hair fall. I hope it works for. That is the only safest and economical way that I could think of.

My curly hair is a bit different, when I cut it short, it all goes up. When I woke up in the morning and check my hair on the mirror...Oh my,..I need to find something to tie it up or else everybody in the house will laugh at me. I can't find any remedies for it. :( I normally use over the counter products for hot oil and I'm curious with your olive oil. Where can I buy that stuff? Dunno about deep conditioner I use conditioner daily but I'm not sure if it's deep conditioner or not. More tips pls.

For me having a straight hair is so lucky. You don't have to spend more money to get it rebonded. Well, that's a good idea. You can ask JC to exchange our hair or you may drop by at my home. ;-) I don't know what to do with my hair to make me look good and feel good with it's natural curly hair.

hello jenith. For me, what you will do is that tie ur hair always. It's not awful if u have a curly hair because that's the nature. I wish that i have a curly hair because my hair is long and it's straight and shiny. I had a kid too, yeah u r right. We can't buy anything we want because the budget is for the baby. Just tie it up always. That's my advice to you. Same here i always tie my long hair.

Honestly, when I was a kid, I didn't like my curly hair. I also kept it tied up all the time. However, after experiencing hair rebonding, I hate it. It's not natural at all. I used to torture my curly hair by spending hours in a salon so I could get that perfect straight hair. Now, I don't go to salons anymore, except when it's time for a hair cut, and I don't regret it. I let my curls grow long. The weight loosened my curls. The waves became bigger and tamer. Today, I have natural curls that reaches my chest. Gone are the days when I envy other girls for having straight locks. I realized that curly hairs are easier to manage because you don't need to brush or comb your hair after bath and you still look okay. Also, when women go to formal events such as proms, they go to salons to have their hairs curled. I don't have to worry about events because I keep my hair the same. Talk about having prom hair everyday! ;)

I think it is good to have good hot oil massage in the head. I think most probably you can consult a beautician to get some good tips on the hair and hair and care. Most probably internet might help you to provide additional information and you should try searching on the internet.

hi jenith, i understand how it is to be having a problem like this and there is a baby to think of too. but as a woman, a mom, a wife, you have to be in constant check with how you look and how you feel about your looks. others may say you look fine, it looks nice.. but for you, you feel it is not so you need to do something to satisfy yourself. i know it is going to be tough, but you have to set aside some savings for that hair. am not a hair guru either, so i dont know what to advise that you do. but i have seen a niece of mine with very curly hair (she has two children, by the way).. she has this hair ironing thing with her. results may not be permanent but it helps while you dont have the cash for rebonding yet. so you might like to buy one for yourself. i dont think it is very expensive.. maybe a hundred or two.. ann

All I want from my hair is to loose it all the time. I can't loosen my hair when it's curly so i let it rebonded. I do have straightening iron but in the long run it makes my hair damaged. I'm also having a hard time ironing it 'cause it's a bit thick and someone who could help do the job is badly needed....and I can't find that someone. =(

I have wavy hair that is thick. I did not like it back when I was younger because all the other girls in school had straight or rebonded hair. I also had my tresses relaxed, but I was really disappointed because it only made my locks dry and damaged. However, now that I am older and definitely wiser, I am loving my wavy hair to bits and pieces. I guess you should also try to love your naturally curly hair because it is God's gift to you. If you do not like it and you don't have the budget for a rebond treatment, you should try to straighten it every single day with a straightening iron. However, you have to make sure that you use a moisturizing conditioner every day or once or twice in a week.

I made my hair relaxed once in a saloon and the result is terrible. Instead of having beautiful hair after it was relaxed, my scalp was damaged and my hair got frizzy. Ironing my hair makes my hair dull even if I put conditioner daily. Maybe it's time to love my natural hair and just find some other ways to make it look beautiful and lovely. Thanks.

Go to the nearest saloon in your place and have your hair re-bonded. As I can see in your avatar, it looks straight and relax. :)

Oh yeah I always got my hair rebonded for around 10 years but I observed it makes my hair dry and itchy. I'm planning to go to saloon one of these days and let the hairstylist decide what's best for my hair.

On my opinion curly hair is kinda sexy, maybe just put some leave on conditioner after every taking a bath, when your hair is still wet, so that when it dried it looks nice. honestly speaking I like curly hair more than so flat and straight one.maybe just be confident enough to wear your curly hair and I'm sure you'll notice that actually its nice and your blessed to have that kind of hair:)

Thanks flowerfest for having that positive outlook regarding curly hair. What I like most for straight hair is it's hassle free like you know after taking a bath, put your dress on and you are good to go...and while on your way going out just comb your hair with your fingertips and everything works fine. Leave on conditioner makes my scalp itchy. :(

Hi there I have super curly hair probably just like yours and I used to hate and I tried everything to be able to let it down once in a while. It is a mission to do anything with it and for many many years I would just tie it up because my hair was also very long! I know leave my hair loose sometimes and usually keep to a half up and half down style because I find my hair is more manageable that way so I suggest you try those styles. Also the best length for curly hair is about mid back when its WET, very important to keep that in mind because when curly hair dries it shortens due to the curls. So be very careful if you go to the hairdresser to get it cut because a lot of them will take off too much and you end up hair that is way to short when it dries.(Been there got the afro!) The best cut for curly hair I find is a soft long layer, so your hair is almost like a layer but only near the end this gives it a bit of a soft look when it dries. Now the tough part is that I have to use quiet a bit of product to keep it from frizzing up too much. Firstly I will wet my hair completely and apply a lot of conditioner, it can be a stay in or a normal one. I use Organics conditioner for straight hair. (I live in South Africa so I don't know what products you have available to you over there, but I am guessing you have organics) you can even try pantene if you want, I just cant afford it here so I get Organics. When I say a lot I mean a lot! Then you need to style the hair how you want it while its wet. (Half up Half down) Then I let it semi-dry trying not to do anything too vigorous that will cause my hair to move too much because then it will frizz a little bit. When it is semi dry I apply quiet a bit of Hairspray which then keeps the curls as they are. I use an aresol spray because it allows my hair to have a dry finish look rather than a wet look as a final result. That's what I do with my curly hair and in fact my hair is out of its constant bun looking nicely curled and mostly frizz free.(The frizz is very little I promise) I hope this helps you and that you can have beautiful hair and let it down once in a while! PS - Let me know if it works for you!

Thanks Tanitac. I don't wanna use hairspray afraid that it would do more damage to my hair but I think it's the best solution to keep the monster hair into place. ;) PS - No problem. I'll do that. Thanks again.
