Two weeks ago, my younger brother was confined at the hospital because he undergone a surgery. It's because he had an appendicitis. According the doctor, his appendix had already ruptured when we arrived at the hospital so they really need to take that out from his system. Well, medically speaking according to the doctors there is no sign for that illness. It will come unexpectedly and the main solution for that is surgery. I was really worried for my brother when he entered the operating room that moment. But after 5 hours the doctor told us that he is okay and he will just spend 5 more days in the hospital to take a rest so that his wounds from the operation would heal. Thanks God he is okay now.. How about you? do you have any experience regarding appendicitis?

yes. i have my own personal experience with appendicitis 1o months ago. Mind is of the gangrenous type. 9 cms long when finally pulled out from me.The doctor have to do a biopsy of the specimen just to rule out cancer or other malignant disease. Appendicitis is asymptomatic. It can strike anytime without any signs amd symptoms and deadly when already ruptured.

Thank God it is not cancerous. Well, on my brothers case, they wasn't able to see his appendix easier because it was covered by some fats on his intestines. That is why they need to cut another on his stomach and removed his intestines for them to explore the appendix. well I can see on his face that day when he went out from the operating room that he is in great pain. But thanks God hes okay now.

Well I haven't tried having appendicitis and God forbid it from happening to me. I do take care of a lot of appendicitis patients in the hospital. I think your brother's case was complicated. He was lucky to have gotten an operation right away. A ruptured appendicitis may cause generalized infection or septicemia and it's very dangerous.

My father did had his appendix removed as well because it has inflamed. It has to be removed so it will not rupture and will cause further damage on his body. I was not too scared for I know the operation will not take too long nor will be have a big effect on him. But of course there is always a side effect on the anesthetics and medications he has to take pre- and post operation so the worry was always there. What we did was pray. Thank God the operation went well and no complications were noted post operation.

My brother is also taking medicines during the first week after the operation. But after his check up last week, the doctor said that he is okay and hes not taking any medicines anymore. Actually now I am happy because he can go to school tomorrow. Thank you! :-P

Oh wow. First, let me say I'm happy to hear your brother will be all right. Second, yes I have an experience with appendicitis. It wasn't a pleasant one either. It first started out with several dogs, my dogs, my friend's dogs, a stranger's dog, all sniffing the same spot on the lower right hand side of my abdomen. This occurred many times on different days. The days following I'd feel very weak without explanation. Lack of energy despite having enough sleep. This last a week. Then the actual pain came. Strangely, it started on the left side of my stomach, then it traveled to the center of it..and finally it went to the lower right hand side. My mom took me to a doctor about my "stomach" pain.. And through tapping my foot, somehow it told the doctor about my inflamed appendix. I was rushed in for surgery, and although it came close to bursting, thankfully it did not. But I remember the pain before...and the pain after. I ended up getting sick twice. Once from the poison, and the second from an allergic reaction to the medication. The allergic reaction had me crawling up the stairs to my bedroom... I was so weak I couldn't even stand up. My dog came over, apparently knew what was wrong, and somehow carried me to my bed. But I was in constant pain. I could not cry, laugh, sneeze, or cough without feeling the tightening of the internal stitches. Running, lifting items, doing anything physical caused pain too. In all honesty, the after effects of the surgery were more painful than the appendicitis itself. But that was years ago. I can still recall every vivid detail of the experience. And it is not something I'd wish on any one. I hope your brother makes a complete and full recovery. :)

It is nice to see that your brother is quite okay because rupture of the appendix may endanger life. No, I have no experience of appendicitis.
