This article is actually from yahoonews! you can read it from yahoo.com Check it out! When I read the article, it kind of grossed me out. Could this be a another psychological disorder? If it is, then what is it called? Can it be considered cannibalism of some sort?

I saw this last night on the tv show My Strange Addiction!! I think the lady did this as a way to cope with her grief. She started it by accident, she got his ashes on her finger and didn't want to just throw him away, so she licked it off. This started to comfort her so she began to actually eat them. I'm not sure it would be considered cannibalism because it's just dust, she's not actually eating human flesh. She's so consumed by grief and she finds some sort of comfort in doing this. By the end of the episode she had gone into some sort of rehab type of program and the ashes were not allowed to go with her and that's the latest update of it.

I agree with you. When people are stricken with grief or discomfort, they will do all kinds of weird things to comfort themselves. And in this case, she is eating her husbands ashed as a way of comfort, not as a way to be disgusting.

The show is on TLC and I think they just had the summer finale on Sunday. A lot of times they do have people that like to eat inedible things, like the other night they had a girl that liked to eat plastic. But they also have people that just do weird things, this one lady cleans her house every single day with straight bleach and she even started bathing in it herself! It's a pretty good show, very interesting. They might have episodes online if you go to TLC's website.

Thanks! In what channel is that show? Anyways, there is a certain type of disorder called "pica" which refers to eating non-edible stuff like saw-dust, glasses and etc. Maybe this can be categorized as pica. But the fact is, even if it's just dust, it's still the remains of a human being. Or maybe she just needs to channel her depression into positive activities and not by this one. Good thing that she noticed it is indeed a problem and was willing to seek help. :)

I think it must be a psychological disorder. Like OCD or something conpulsive. I wonder what the reason is behind it. It is gross! SHe is only 26 and it is on Strange Addictions on TLC. Ugh! She said some of her husband's ashes got spilled and she didn't want to throw it away so she licked it up. SHe did check herself in to a facility for help and didn't take the ashes with her so hopefully she will get the help she needs.

i say that is really weird. i wonder what satisfaction she gets when she eats the ashes of her husbands. what if she is already hungry for ashes, then does she kill her husband? men should beware from her.

eww grose... i think is psychological disorder. In the past i've read some woman use her husband's body to make a diamond and i think it was disturbing but this is even more disturbing.

Well that sounds so uncanny. Possibly a psychological disorder. Maybe it is not cannibalism because in cannibalism, it is the human flesh itself that it consumed. What a strange woman could she have been. She must be unusually obseesed by her husband or something.

Why would you want to eat ashes in the first place? And why her husband's ashes? That is just simply disturbing and unnatural. I don't think it's exactly cannibalism because she isn't eating human flesh but then again she's eating burnt human flesh? I remember watching this TV show about this old woman who eats 2kg of dirt everyday. Like seriously? Dirt? Some people have strange habits.

Now that's disturbing. Some people even eat like bulbs and screws. The worst thing I ate was ice.

It's some sort of mental disorder. It's called PICA. It's common in women and children. Pica -a mental disorder characterized by an appetite for substances largelyt non-nutritive (ex, clay, paper, chalk, batteries, soap, ash, etc). Or maybe it's a cultural practice? eating her husband ashes?

That surely is gross. I don't know if that's considered cannibalism but that surely is disturbing. Even though those are already ashes, those ash is still the remains of a human being.

Exactly! Maybe this is the woman's way to cope with the loss but it surely is gross.
