why do crabs walk sideways?

friends did you ever thought why crabs walk sideways,they look funny when they move like this but have you ever thought of that? They are just amazing.

I didn't had previlege to wtch the crabs live to me so i can't have those sorts of idea about it had you seen it live or in video , if in video tell me the link thanks

ya i also seen them in videos and i when this question pop up in my mind i searched for the answer.sorry but i dont have any link for that as i saw that video on discovery channel.they looks funny while walking.

Crab's legs aren't very flexible in the front - back direction, so sideways motion is easier and faster. Remember that they have an external skeleton! Also, crabs are much better swimmers and spend much more time in the water than on land.

yes,the joint on the legs on one side pull the crab and those on the other side push.producing a sideways movement.and thier legs are not flexible as most of the animals thats why they cant move like others which makes them funny.

I think their eye can't see straight that prevented them from going forward, but only side way.

I haven't given it a thought too why they move sideways. Maybe one reason is their legs is not flexible enough like other creatures who can do forward or back or just a thought, maybe they'll lose their balance if they did so.

hello friend i do not know why crabs walk sideways but i think his eye's retina should be corner in eye. if you want to proper reasons then you download reason from sites wikipedia .
