Is it right to earn and save so that future generations enjoy, not work...

One of our top politicians caught for corruption is supposed to have told some of his close aides that he had made all that wealth ( mostly through corrupt means ) so that his future ten generations is/are taken care of , can live in luxury and need never worry about money... Does this make sense? is it a right example to set to the masses ? does it mean that the future generation is not expected to know what work is and earn their own living and learn about life and its toils? Are they expected to just sit around enjoying all that wealth made by their ancestors through any means? This got me thinking. No doubt that we all want to leave what we have to our children .We work hard, earn and invest in properties and have bank accounts and as things go will leave behind all of it to our children....Personally I feel that there is no evil as bad as selfish greed.Afterall, how much does a person need to be happy, live a life of comfort ...

Hello Kiran ji, congratulation on Raksh Bandhan. The people who are earning this bulk wealth with unfair means for their future generations are indeed making handicap to their coming generations. It is not bad to live some wealth for our children, not for future five or ten generations.

Hi anil, thanks a lot for your response ,Hope you had a happy time with your family on this festival day. However, We don't celebrate it here. I too feel the same way as you do,personally I would want my children to work hard and come up in life, instead of taking life easy with the hope that they would inherit their parents wealth some day ( Don't have much wealth anyway lol...)

Hi anil, that's strange !It shows that there are many such differences between the north Indian culture and South Indian culture and customs that all may not be aware of ! We do want to protect our children and make them feel comfortable in life which is a natural feeling in parents. But that does not mean that we have to take care of all their monetary needs all their life...

Hello Kiran ji, I know first time that raksha bandhan is not celebrate in south. Moreover parents always like to support their children, they don't like that their children will face any problem. This attitude of parents make children lazy and care less.

Hi kiran, I think to leave lots of wealth for future generation is foolishness. Moreover to earn wealth by corruption is sin. The sin can't brings good result. The future generations of a corrupted person will become idle and misuse the wealth. It is better to give proper education to future generations so that they can stand on their own feet. Education is the best wealth.

Hi bhanu, thanks a lot for adding your views here Most people would want their children to work hard and come up in life, but there are some who want to earn and hoard as much wealth as they can so that their future generations remain in luxury...I agree that parents should give education and teach the right values to their children and then let them fend for themselves...all the best bhanu and have a great weekend

I think It's foolish enough to save too much money to the future generation .they could live on themselves.this happened in china where every family has one child.terrible.

The politician's statement is as foolish as his deeds. When we are not sure of whats in store for us tomorrow how can this stupid creature think of the next 10 generations? We Indians believe in the Law of Karma. All ill gotten things will go sooner than later. The politician had only to realize that it takes just one man to take birth in his next 10 future generations to wipe off all his earnings.

You have a point. Yeah, we all have to experience work since life should not be about fun all the time. Future generations should also work to live. They should experience how it is to get a job and maintain it.

Hi frontvisions, thanks a lot for the feedback I totally agree with your views .I have seen how owners of some of the major Industrial houses make their children slog it out and learn every aspect of their business before they are left in charge. Thats the wisest thing to do when you want your children to carry on the business successfully and also learn the value of work culture - all the best and happy mylotting

Well, every parents want their future generations enjoy a good life. But only to live a luxury life may make life empty. And they will have no skills about work. Besides, luxury life can make people arrogant and greed. When that wealth taken over, what can they do? So people need work, work can make life colorful.

Hi myjoon, thanks a lot for sharing your views Work and also the right attitude towards life is what is needed to be taught to the younger generation rather than make them live in luxury all their life. This will only make them selfish and have no empathy for their fellow beings...all the best and happy mylotting

Probably they'll end up spending it all and then they'll have to go to work, but they'll have no idea how to do it because they were never taught the right values!!!

He has lost it all now since he was caught by the CBI....Now he is behind the bars charged with corruption and waiting for his trial .All the money is with the CBI ...I agree that what we need to give our children is sound education and teach them the right values..

It kind of sounds like an excuse to me, like something he just says because he got caught. But I guess I could be wrong about that. Either way, I think most people want to leave something behind for their kids and grandkids, but for them never having to work is a bit too much. I think it does people good to work! It builds character, teaches you the value of money and it also helps your self esteem. So needless to say, I do not really agree with this guy.

I would like to ask him what will his 11th or 12 th or so on generation would do, if he is earning only for 10 generations? His excuse says he is biggest idiot. Actually we are responsible for that that we choose such stupid leader. I read Warren Buffett's statement somewhere "I will give so much to my children that they may do something, I won't give them that much that they won't need to do anything." I think this statement explains parents' responsibility at best.

Hi vikas, thanks a lot for sharing your views lol, that is a good question...but as of it is doubtful whether any of that wealth would be of use even to him since it has also been taken away by the authorities and the fellow is in the prison waiting to undergo trial on corruption charges...I like that statement made by Warren Buffet, very wise and practical..ll the best and enjoy your weekend

well, as though there is nothing physically wrong with taking care of the next generation's wealth, you may feel that you need some type of a reward for doing so. Other than that the only problem could possibly be satisfaction of the future generations. Unless you have completed a goal or fullfilled a need of progress they are not going to feel full satisfaction. Yes, they can buy anything they want and gain satisfaction from giving, but truly without work we have no purpose besides acting on what we believe in. Part of the reason we are living today is because of labour. Is it not that we have to care for the grounds of the earth or the lives of our fellow friends? The future generations have an option of satifying their metal reason of living or laying back and doing nothing.

Hi insperwriter, thanks a lot for your responseYes what you say is right. All individuals need to have a goal in life and working towards it and subsequently achieving it is what life is all about...No doubt what an individual earns saves and later invests passes on to his children, but that is what has been rightfully earned and it has much value..
