A 63 year old jeepney driver died after being hit by a 90 year old acacia tree. The old tree topples over the jeepney (vehicle) and killed the old man. It was too late for the old man to jump out from the vehicle as other passengers were jumping out also. I was shocked when I heard his death. It was a very rare case of death I guess. Now, I am scared to stay under the old trees for it might topple over me. Old trees could fall down anytime. There are quite many old trees in my place so i think it would be better if the environmentalist should check the all the old trees to prevent this kind of accident to happen again.

tess- ur fear is genuine. But young trees also can fall depending on wind. There is nothing worse than fear. Fear kills. Fear kills slowly. Many of us suffer out of fear of unknown or future. some fear snakes, darkness, new people, height etc. If only I can conquer fear--how happy i will be.

right, Fear kills. We shouldn't live in fear. We should be strong all the time and hope for all good things. We should be fearless and be stronger.

That was really a tragic experience. It seldom happens but it is very dangerous. We had that in our place when I was yet a child. There was a coconut true that also toppled down. It hit a house and it was fortunate the grandmother who was left at the house babysitting her grandchild was not hit. She was not in the area of the house that was hit.

Maybe this happen cause of the old roots are not well fix to soil due of being old of this tree and also because of raining always. The soil erode and there are times that this tree really are weak. Well any reason we had accident is accident we cannot expect this to come and when, how and to whom it will stuck. Lets just pray that all old trees may take a look by the right person who handle it. And takecare also when you are around not only for the old trees but around you. Accidents happen all the time with no right and specific date and time.

in my country i've heard this kind of news mostly during rainy season. Sometimes the wind is so powerfull it could bring a big tree down and sometimes under that tree there was a traffic jam and sometimes those big tree knock the car and kill the passenger.

I really think that I am weary of any tree falling on top of my head to be honest with you. There are a lot of times where a huge windstorm kicks up and I cringe a lot because there are a lot of trees in the neighborhood. Some of them have been known to be knocked down. It is my fear that one of those trees are going to be eventually lifted out of the air and I'll look up, and then smash through the back of my house and that would be the end of it. Scarily enough, that can close to happening. There was a big apple tree in my backyard that was there for not that long but still it was rather old. There was a huge gust of wind that went by and it was yanked out of the ground. It could have fallen in three directions and thankfully it fell in the one where it was not going to be all that much of a problem. Still that can be scary at any rate, as trees can fall at any time, without warning, and there could be an unfortunate soul that could get crushed.
