Yesterday I took my drivers test and I was told I failed because I did what he called (the instructor) a rolling stop. At each stop sign. I said I swore I stop..? He said in the state of Delaware you need to stop at a complete stop for at least 2 seconds. in new jersey you can stop at a rolling stop or what some people call a California roll. So he said because of that he had to fail me and said something I was in the middle when and where.?? When he explained it I still had no idea what the heck he was talking, personally I think he just wanted to fail me why I don't know but come on now.. I know how to drive. you think he will take that in consideration oh okay he knows now it's 2 sec for every stop. I'm extremely upset. n disappointed and discourage

Sorry but I don't know what a rolling stop is! Perhaps that thing doesn't exist in my country! I worked hard t earn my driver's license. I've been driving since I was 11 secretly and so I know I got the skill. When I finally came of age to get a license I took the written test and at that time they imposed a new one which was too difficult for those drivers who couldn't speak English! I passed both the written practical test and guess what happened after I renewed it! The corrupt officer took my money and disappeared and I had to redo everything again from the written test down to the practical ones!

Indeed I was very young but I was a very determined child, when. Wanted something I would work hard for it. My dad didn't get mad though because I knew how to drive safely and I always listened to our driver's advice. I considered driving as a talent and skill then. You're still young and I'm pretty sure you'll have your license soon!

I understand your anger for failing your driving test. Here in Italy during the test you need only complete stop at the stop, no matter how long.

I think here in Kansas it is supposed to be a three second stop. Do not fault him for doing his job. He cannot chat with you and have fun during the test. I am sure it would have put you more at ease if he had lightened up before hand or afterward. When I first moved to this state over thirty five years ago, I failed my first test as well. Believe it or not it was for not using turn signals, in the parking lot. Even if you know you are a very good driver, be sure to exaggerate how well you drive and do extra special for the test examiner.

Just learn your lesson, and do a slow count of two before proceeding into the intersection. Are you changing from New Jersey to Delaware license? He may be prejudiced against New Jersey drivers.

Some of the the testers are just out there to fail us. I guess they want us to pay more to retake the test. May be they are angry about something and they decide to take out their rage on people taking tests. It is really unfortunate and very disappointing situation.

Hey wicelot, I believe you on that one because have a boss tht is like that when her life is going so wrong and upset she loves to take it out on us and I told her one day I don't feel comfortable talking to you don't feel happy being around you and doing my job is stressful because of you. Something's she says that isn't right and I tell her the way it is. I scared her a few times but God doesn't like ugly and it takes a person to speak up. The man I had seem like dust no expression no personally no nothing. Like a very dim light he came off haha.. But I'll pray I won't get him again.. Lol

I spent years learning how to drive and found it hard to pass a British practical driving test. Here out of every ten people taking the test 60% fail it and 40% pass it. You stopped and then went on because it was safe to do so. You didn't know you had to wait two seconds. How silly it is it to have different rules for the area of the United States. I usually failed the backing around the corner. Finally last February I passed my practical driving test. I had to do a turn in the road and a reverse park. I didn't have to back around the corner. People tend to be nervous on the day of their test and to a certain degree is luck comes into play. At one time I was disappointed and discouraged to the point of almost giving up. I am so pleased I had two more tries and passed it eventually. Good luck.

my personal opinion on this is, it's not the question of you know how to drive a car but you have to follow the road rules. it's not whether you know the rules in this city or not but how well you know and follow the rules when you are driving at a certain place.

Hey hushi, Yeah It took me a day or two to get ov the whole situation and I have got most of it off my chest and I'm ready to try again and practice some more but Hod knows everything and that's what I keep telling myself because that's the only way I can move on. I dislike to fail something and if I keep on failing it won't help me either just makes the situation more stressful to know I didn't improve much.

Hey Payout! I am sorry you did not pass the driver test. Kow that it has nothing to do with poor skills but more on laws. Though 2 seconds seem like not a whole lot, I though here in IL it was something like 5 seconds. Well know that you can take the test again and when you do come to stop mentally say to yourself. One, two and or maybe three then proceed. At least it has nothing to do with erratic driving or something bad, just know that at least it was a tester who sticks to rules. Best of luck and there is always next time.

Thank you HWG, :) I will do so next time and I will count to 3 haha in my head of course haha .. But yeah I'm feeling much better and I know that I will pass next time with flying colors and I just need to have faith and the day went horrible and I let e day get to me so badly that I just wanted to scream but, I have to let it go and sometimes God always wants to test me especially when I can at least expect it haha.. But yeah he said everythig was okay but one time I was like in the middle of the stree he said Turing .. Well duh I was turning haha. I don't know he confused ne on that part I had no idea what the heck he was talking about. But yeah I will do it again but with a smile on my face haha

Well good grief. You didn't run over anyone did you. Heck, that's a great start in itself. Just remember to completely stop next time. I would suggest a different instructor, if possible. Especially if you feel he was unfair. You don't want that to affect your next attempt at a drivers licenses. Best Wishes!

Well ,it's just to give it a new try after you've gone through the issues you failed on. I've learnt to do as I was told by following all instructions of the instructor, who is the authority and is in charge to decide whether you pass or fail. Best is to be quite having your own opinion. I wish you the best of luck to pass for a driving licence!

I was quite the whole time and I drove fine but he failed me because I roll to the stop sign and if I stop I should stop for 2 seconds

This has happened to many here too. If you can next time you take even count out 3 seconds at each stop sign just to make sure. Now you know your mistake and can pass the next time. Good luck.

How old are you? I got my license when I was 16, so I had to go to driving school first since I was just 16. They taught us that in driving school. That we had to come to a complete stop at a stop sign and wait for two seconds before we could go. Don't get dicourage you will pass it the second time. My brother failed his driving test the first time as well and he passed the second time. Just improve on your stopping at a stop sign.

Hey asiha, I'm 19 yr old, I did school some what online and So yeah no school drivers test and i was told that it's easier while in school because it's a processes as when you go to the DMV it's not it's a process but more like okay get it done it's now so nice nice either. Long lines and mean people sometimes. I just wish... I could take back time and just do what he consider was a stop.
