Indonesia is an agrarian country. Most farmers plans rice. Though in other areas is not a staple food rice. People eat sago in Papua, at the Madura people eat wheat. So is it true now? whether people should eat rice?

hi plik, rice is staple food of filipinos too. you will always see it in the table of each and every filipino family, rich or poor. but medicine has been advising for less rice especially to people with hypertension and diabetes. staple food differs in other countries. i heard from a friend in england, they eat potatoes instead of rice. others eat wheat and make it into bread. in the highlands, some eat corn instead of rice. hence it differs everywhere. ann

Finally, the government contribution of rice to the poor. Residents in indonesia indeed much of its agriculture. But the funny thing is our country had imported the rice from neigbouring country. Whether at you there are people who grow rice?

i live in the city hence i dont see rice fields here. it is some hundred kilometers away that rice fields are abundant. the past administrations have imported rice especially from thailand and it was wasted. now the president has ordered not to import so much rice. and i hope the harvest will suffice. we will still have to see. have a nice day. ann
