Is there any smell or product snakes dislike that will get them to leave?

We have had storage units for years and never had this problem before. Some yellow and black snakes have taken refuge in our storage unit and we want them gone and not coming back. At this point we don't know if they are poisonous or not. Is there any product or anything that we can put down there to get these snakes to leave? We have seen at least 3 in there and my husband is afraid to go in there because he is afraid he will get bitten.

Check with your hardware store. I think I have heard of snake repellant treatments. I do not think they are a poisonous variety, but they could still bite. On the other hand, they will eat mice and stuff that might get into your storage unit.

hi linda, some folks in the farm told me that they mash a lot of garlic and spread it all around the area. they said snakes dont like the smell of garlic. i am not sure how true. ann

Hi Linda, I do not know if you can get some sulfer, like those using to make match sticks. Snakes are terrible of it. Once you have it in the storage units, you would never see the snakes again. I wonder if you can get someone to catch the snakes, since you all are so terrified of going down to the storage units.

Yes. Spray Kerosene oil once a while . the pungent smell of kerosene will keep snakes away.Keep doing it till they realize that its a permanent nuisance and hence will change its dwelling place

The word would send me right back to the car and down the road ASAP. I would never return to the storage unit. I absolutely hate snakes. I won't even watch them on tv. I make my husband change the channel. When we go the aquarium I totally avoid that section. I don't care if they are poisonous or not. Best Wishes!
