I have never modeled, but I have had professional portraits taken a few times. The last time was a few years ago. I don't remember many of the details. We ended up being very unhappy with the proofs we were given, so we didn't even purchase any of the photos the photographer took. I have a suggestion for you, though. If you would like to model, you could look for a photographer who's interested in doing a TFP exchange. TFP means "time for prints" or "time for photos." Most photographers who are interested in doing TFP shoots are working on building their portfolios, so they are happy to provide their services to models who are also starting out. You could get some very nice photos that way without having to spend money on session fees. Just make sure to ask the photographer to give you written permission to reprint the photos for your own personal use before the session begins.
