My bro has a Old system, the processor he has is a very slow its 1.66GHz. Its processing is very slow, the computer also gets stuck several times. Is it possible to link two processors to the same motherboard? If so what are the hardware used for it?

two processors on a single motherboard is possible d cost is more. AMD quadfx platform with dual socket direct connect architecture is d thing used 2 combine 2 processors 2 one motherboard nd also skulltrail is also anoder thing u can use. i would suggest exchange d old 2 new dual core one.

@harishreddy Okay. I see that your suggestion is quite good.Rather than spending too much on old cpu i would exchange it for a new one. Yeah i will check out the new Dual Cores.

I am not sure whether you can do that. There is just place for one single processor, in the motherboards I have used or seen. If there are hardwares through with you can do this, I am not aware of them.

I am not getting exactly what you want to do.. placing second processor on this same motherboard and make system faster? or you asking generally that is it possible to place two processors on the same motherboard? first answer : if your system is too old then 99% it's not possible to place two processors on the motherboard.. it is new concept and mostly available in servers only not in local systems.. second answer: yes it is possible to place two processors on One motherboard but for that you need server or high end machine with also good amount of RAM too. because without big RAM its not worth to put second processor..

It is not exactly what you can do but in some motherboards it is possible to connect two boards together and they access to common resources but the feasibility in these is not for common applications as they are suited for multi threaded operations and hence the best will be replace your older system with a new one. However I think as a good idea of a DIY project. Thanks buddy for such an innovative discussion. I had never thought about this previously.
