The ps2 era is my fave gaming era ever, there is more diverse titles of different for me to choose from. It has better graphics than Ps1 when it comes to 3d animated games and when you purchase a game its complete. Another reason i love that era is the games are not too easy and not too hard. the current gaming era frustrates me because 90% are generic shooters, I know ps3 era have better graphics but that better graphics hold so much ram games are forced to be shorter for graphics sake. at the ps2 era after finishing a game there were unlockables like new levels, additional characters, weapons and alternate costumes. unlockable content gives re-playable value but now lots of games are not as replayable. now there are less costumes, characters, stages to unlock. if you want new features for the game you purchased you will have to pay for them (downloadable content or dlc) videogame companies releases their games incomplete so they can sell dlc later.

I still play ps2 games whenever I have time because, like you said there are a lot of great games that I still have to finish. I like playing role-playing games as well as strategy games. I don't own a ps3 yet, but I have seen the great graphics. I have also learned that most ps3 games are enjoyable when played multiplayer online. I think that I am not ready for a ps3 yet because there are still so much ps2 games I want to finish. I hope the next generation console won't be release yet anytime soon.

ps3 era is frustrating, you need internet connection to play, even in single player, most games are short and incomplete intentionally so you will purchase dlc. good graphics though... but ps2 doesnt have bad graphics and games created have more d2dication.

PS2 could be one on the most successful consoles Sony has ever brought to technology world. I think that there are still many gamers using this console at this time.

yeah, I agree with you. I also got frustrated with some games of this generation. As a CG artist, I admire those realistic-made characters, but somehow, the quality of gameplay degraded. Like Lara Croft series in PSone, it's more challenging and more on mind-breaking puzzles than today's games. Today's Lara Croft games are shorter and more on shooting, less on strategy and puzzles. and you are right, maybe it's because it has greater production but limited resources, that's why gameplay quality was sacrified over visual quality.

in ps2,even ps1 we have many niche games but companies play safe with ps3 cos its higher budget so they dont want to take risk, they played safe. they focus too much in sales instead of quality. i dont want ps4 to be out yet cos games will go generic because it will be more expensive due to graphics. horror games are not scary anymore. fighting games have incomplete rosters so they can sell dlc.i have a feeling ps4 games will have incomplete games for the sake of damn dlc.

yeah, I agree with you regarding resident evil..though it is still enjoyable esp. when you play the co-op game. (I play RE5 with my brother) But what I enjoy the most in PS3 is the Metal Gear Solid 4, it's strategy and tactical espionage, adventure, action are just great blends to suite my hunger for espionage games. Though the old MGS1 is much harder than the MGS 2 & 3. I really love MGS 4 and peacewalker too for the PS3. And about Splinter Cell, I would love to say that Conviction is the best splinter cell I've ever played, though I also enjoyed Ps2 games of that. And also, what is PS3 without Uncharted 1 & 2. I really love those games. also L.A. Noire, it's interrogation is best, you'll really wonder and think hard if the suspect is lying. But after playing these games, I wonder, what's next. And yes, most of the games nowadays are all shooting games, which I'm not really into too much. I like espionage games like MGS. Maybe it's for the gamer's taste. But I hope that the developers will improve those some rotten games out there.

I have a PS2, I'm saving up for a PS3 because there are some games I want to play on it. I don't really buy a lot of games, but I only buy things I know I'll replay over and over again.

Yes! Nothing beats the good old days with the famous ps2!. Now it's the ps3 that's dominating the markets now but I reckon the old stuff can never be beaten. I still have my ps2 and I still download games off the net and play my favorite ps2 games during the summer break. The old stuff like the ps1 and Nintendo 64 are rare now. My tutor teacher is a game fanatic and he was like, "the old Nintendo 64 is worth hundreds now and I still have mine!". I wonder how long my ps2 will last, so far its 7 years old and still going!

I also miss the complete games upon purchase, now you have to pay extra money to complete the game.

I see what you mean. A lot of the time, with all the new technology and gaming systems coming out nowadays, it really makes people nostalgic about the simpleness of just playing a quick game, and not have to worry about buying points, upgrading your membership, etc. They really are just trying to maximize their profit because the gaming companies know that there are going to be people that are willing to pay for their products. So why not delay releases and add things that can only be bought with real cash, not in game currency? At least we will have our old gaming systems that we could always go back to. Granted, they will/ have already stopped upgrading them, but it's nice while it lasts!

most likely ps4 is all about graphics, the graphics will be so good, the gaes will be expensive beyond out wallets.

I expect next gen will have less diversity,It will be filled by call of duty wannabes, because the games are so expensive, game developers will be afraid to produce niche games.
