Hp developed the HP touchpad in 2010, they ended up buying palm for smartphone and tablets. A year later Google,iOs,Blackberry, all have advanced and updated there software OS side of things. So I ask, whats everyones take on how long HP will be around before Dell or some other company scoops them up? HP has some very nice laptops DV7 series are very nice entertainment laptops, the all in one computers with touch screens seem to be a disappointing as far as upgrading them. I work for BJs wholesale club and get to test out all the new laptops we get in. I feel as though HP and Samsung are decent.

Don't predict the things just on one fallback they will do well and it was good decision as for me they might go in loss or some trouble so better get off that now rather them wait for future to get in trouble Also it apple and the android popularity that let HP os down Hp will not eatup by any other as they are quite big to handle these situations and they do the announcement with regard to that only. Any way the touchpad of hp was not comepting with ipad

HP is a pretty big company. I doubt that it will, in any time soon, be eaten up by another big company. We have several HP computers in our house, and they're really nice. HP computers are affordable and of high quality. Many of my friends feel the same, and my father owns a company that works with a branch of HP. I think HP will REALLY have to fall down before it's taken by another. Most Americans are not that into the "technical" side of computers and laptops and other electronics like you. They find what is affordable and what looks nice and works decently well, and then they buy it. And HP is one of those companies that provide these types of products. Happy mylotting!

Hp has been around a long time and has actually bought out Compaq. I doubt there is a threat another big-name company will buy them out... and if so there had better be good money or a good reason, because it's still a top contender and a threat to Dell and other companies like it.And, it will be for quite some time. It just depends where it's strengths and weeknesses lie. Like touch screen for example. (I saw all the demos) and if I was a desktop type of girl I would have actually considered it, but I'm not. But, Hp is a computer I wouldn't mind having. Right now I've got Dell, and right now.... I'm starting to wish I didn't. I've only had this thing two years (next month) and already I've got plans to replace it. Of course my printer's another story. That'll be handy and is from Dell too, which isn't bad.So it's not all bad. THough I got side tracked. The reason companies get annoying with their technology, is because they're literally competing for your money. So each company strives to be the best to bring in the sales. Because in the end, a computer company is a business and like all businesses they're in business to make money. So if that means making promises they can't keep, or making something out to be far better then it is... then that's what they have to do. A product can be a total piece of crap (take Apple products for example), but if they hype it up enough they can make big money off of it and sell thouands and the complaints they get won't loose them that much money.
