Hurricane may be heading my way...

Living in South Florida I've been through my fair share of hurricanes. Luckily, we haven't had more than just a tropical storm for the past 5 or 6 years. Now there's a new storm system and it's projected to come near my area. It won't be anything major and we'll probably just get a few nasty storms from it. I just hope that if we do get a severe storm, that the power doesn't go out. Last time we had a big hurricane, my neighborhood lost power and water for almost 2 weeks. It was really eerie to look outside at night and see pitch black when usually I see street lights and other bright stuff. I just don't want to lose power because I need the internet to do my school work and I don't know what would happen if we lost power. Have any of you gone through a major weather disaster?

I'm from SouthWest Florida originally, and I'm following the storm closely as my family is still there. Luckily, as I write this, it hasn't intensified to much so far. Early indicators are that it will hit the Carolinas, but it's never good no matter who gets hit. I have survived hurricanes, and they aren't a lot of fun, and I'm hoping this one keeps it reasonably quiet.

Yeah, the path has changed since I posted this and as of right now it's looking to hit offshore. It's expected to be a category 3 so we might get some of the bad weather but it shouldn't be too bad. But, the path could change and do who knows what. The only thing to do is keep watching it and prepare for it just in case.
