How much of the media do you believe in?

I mean, we all are faced with a lot of troubles lately, troubles with acceptance of who we are because we see there are better people, more beautiful perhaps... because of the media. I was talking to my brother the other day, he said you know, sometimes in Media, there is just only a thin line between the truth and the lies. The beauty is made up of make ups, of fake hairs and eyelashes... The body is of implants and all... and somehow we knew these are fake but we find ourselves wonderful, is it really fake, or maybe its not... haha Well Also, in celebrities, in politicians, everyone who's exposed to the media, they are like well they all look like good people and then you'd see some caught in the act.. so again, we'd think are these made up? which one is the real him or her?! So much confusion... How much, really in Media do you believe in?

I don't believe most of it. A myLotter once told me this: media is a business. An entertainment business. Their goal is to make more money. Telling the truth is secondary. I think a lot of the stories we see are twisted (read exaggerated) or just outright fiction for the sake of entertainment. The truth is there is a lot that goes on in this world. I honestly doubt we can know it. There is just to much trash to shift through. I despise celebrity media. Hello, we have a violent hurting world to worry about! Our country (which for me is the United States) is not in the best of shape either. Why on earth does Justin Beiber's break up get the front when there are far more important issues to read about - issues that actually effect us all? There is no hope for today's media/

I agree with you, not all medias are telling the truth, some of them are are accept money for give a good report and good name. Yes sometimes they report personal issues. It should be that its a privacy,

I agree with that as well. Not only does the media lie, but they stick their noses into personal things that ought not to be news. Like when celebrities divorce or become pregnant. Those are personal life things, those events should not the target of public consumption.

I definitely agree with Awinds. The media today care more about celebrtities' personal lives rather than local/international issues. As for me, I always have that hesitation whether to believe in media because of their seemingly unreliable reputation. Its true that there is only a thin line separating facts and lies. The media is doing their work for the sake of business not for the sake of the people.

Sometimes or oftentimes, the media tend to sensationalize so we just have to know how to discern lest we get deceived. We can't always trust the media, not all those reported or published are 100 percent true. Le us be wise to know which is true and which is not.

There are somethings you can't believe but than again there are some that you need to pay attention to. because the truth comes from some where and before you know it the rumors or lies are said to be tue.

Should we trust anything anyone tells us? No, the same goes for the Mass media. Besides, as far as celebrities and politicians. most of them just lie about who they are, and only lets us see their "good" aspects, so just use your own judgment and do not believe in everything

Hi chiyosan! That's why I'm always critical of what I see on television. Media really plays a great role in shaping the thinking of people. The more the media replays one idea, the more it is shown on tv or aired in radio, the more the people are convinced that it is true or at least it is the reality. Like your example, because the media treat as beautiful those celebrities who have undergone aesthetic operations, the people will eventually believed that these operations are needed for a person to become beautiful. They will also believed that these celebrities are beautiful. The media is culturing a mindset within the people. They have that kind of power. It's really important that we should be critical of whatever we see on tv, in newspapers, and what we hear on radio.

the truth is as you have said it. there are many news that aren't even reported... there were a lot of newscasters that they themselves are paid by the politician and all. so i think most likely we do not get the truth, whatever was presented to us are those that was only allowed to be broadcasted and that is where the hidden truth lies... Thank you for sharing and see you around the site! Godbless.

I don't really believe a lot of what the media says. A lot of what the media says probably isn't true in the first place.

well there are a lot of those shown by media that are either too little, or too much. it is really up to us to believe which one and to be aware of the possibilities. Thank you for sharing and see you around the site! Godbless.

I agree with you 100%. Personally, the only media I believe and trust are my local television news programs, and news programs such as 20/20 and Nightline. I also trust in my local news periodicals. However, I stay away from peridiocals that contain nothing but tabloids and gossip. I find them to be in poor taste.

I think all that is being reported is to inform us.It's up for us to believe it or not.Media had two benefits, for us to be informed and for them being paid by doing so.I guess not all that is being reported are true.Sometimes through reporting some people are considered guilty already. Most people perceived the news as true where in fact it's just informing us until proven otherwise.

that's true, i mean they can always report what they have gathered, inform us, scare us, add more to alarm the public and so on... but then the truth is what is presented to us may not be the whole damn truth that we needed to know. Thank you for sharing and see you around the site! Godbless.

If you said about the content of facts they give to you I would say that I will only take 50 percent of it. The facts given ca be either true or not. If you said about the lies on the people/celebrity in media then I would say I don't believe any single things about them..Recorded or live when they already in TV/media that people appearance are fake. The truth when they are not in front of the media~(^^)

I believe in some media, but i never really believed in it. Hardly any media really objective i think...! To get permission for the truth, you should get information directly from the source.

oh it is possible.. especially if they have no competition, tendency is for them to just show whatever they think should be shown, and thus most people would be left blinded by the true situation.

The media is always trying to snoop around for good juicy news for the public eye to see. They earn cash from us, the better and interesting the story, the more likely we'll buy the paper and magazine. Not every single detail can be placed in an article or a news report so things will be omitted. I'd say never trust the media completely. They just want the money and fame.
