I downgrade from Windows 7 to Windows XP because I need a speed when opening too many browser simultaneously. I'm happy using Windows 7 but I really need to format and downgrade my OS because I need an extra speed since Xp require only small memory to run. Then I install it to my Toshiba laptop and was satisfied with the result, but there's something wrong... I don't know why but my laptop becomes hot more easily than before, the touch pad and the air vent is so hot. I started to think why it easily became hot in just a couple of minute without executing any big applications. I searched the internet and I found the answer why... the power scheme in Windows XP. The scheme was set to default which is home/office desk, so I choose portable laptop. This solve my problem for the excessive heat in my laptop. I thought at first that my laptop is not in good condition and need to repair, but thank God, the power scheme solve the problem. Do you guys experienced this?

Actually, you could have just shut off some services that you really don't need to run in Windows 7, i.e. transparency. My laptop has Windows XP in it but my work PC has Windows 7 Pro installed, and I was able to make my work PC consume the same amount of resources as my laptop, though Windows 7 running looks more like XP now :) Anyway, good for you that you were able to solve your problem.

Yes your right, but actually I did that and it still can't handle many internet browsers at the same time. I shut off all the eye candy services of the system and effects, but no good so that's why I decided to downgrade to XP. And the problem arise, the heat is too much because the power scheme is not set into portable. I love the speed of XP because it only requires a small amount of memory but I did upgrade again to 7 but in 64 bit because I did read in an article that it can handle applications well better than 32bit. I test it out and it's true... It can handle now all my work with the speed that I want. Thank you for your response tonio, and God bless you.. =D

I have had simular problems, but that's because I had a fulty battery which fried and pretty much distroyed one of my laptops. The other two I have, keyboards gave/are trying to give. Guess they aren't used to the constant use and the constant typing I do on a regular basis. Though I find it helps to place my laptop on something light and color to deflect heat, keep a fan running and keep the room as cool as possible especially now in the hot summer months. It gets warm yes, but not as warm as it would if I didn't take actions to reduce heat. Of course the more you use an object the hotter it could possibly become.

Yes, your absolutely right... the more use of an object the more it will become hot. I am too sensitive in keeping my laptop cool in spite that I used it often, I do had basic knowledge in keeping my computer in top of its performance but keeping it cool at the same time. My topic in this discussion is the rarest experience I'd ever encounter that's why I decided to share it to everyone to be a guide and help. And thank you dude for a nice response and a tip, anyway, I switch to Windows 7 64bit right now and the result is much better than XP and 7 32bit. God bless you kaylachan! =)
