Serious question: How often should a person poop?

Is daily pooping normal or should there be a day in between pooping? I poop regularly (in the morning at least) and I feel pretty good about my health. The only question left now is, how frequent should pooping be to be considered healthy/normal? I'm just curious. Hopefully, somebody can answer this question.

Daily "pooping" is normal. And it could be any time in a day. It should be regular to be considered healthy/normal. It is part of our internal organs function. Maybe you should be alarmed if you have not "pooped" for longer days. Something is definitely wrong with your body then and should seek medical advise.

Yeah! Too much and too little are both bad. Going daily is possibly the best option, it's regular and typical. It shows that your body has adopted a healthy routine.

Yes, you need to have a bowel movement daily. If you are eating a good diet with plenty of water and fiber you shouldn't have a problem with this. But if you aren't eating a good diet then you might become constipated and that is no fun at all. Be sure you are drinking alot of water and getting your fiber.

It's not how often, but what you poop that matters. A well digested diet that has sufficient fiber content should produce stools that float. I had a friend who claimed his diet was so well refined that he only passed waste once a week. Daily is good enough for me!

I remember learning about this in a science class in highschool.. They told us it should be happening everyday atleast once. If not there could be a health problem like you said.. You seem to be fine though, once a day is enough I'd say.

Hi it depends on the person diet but a lot of experts Say at least once a day.Now if you did not eat that day Then there might be nothing to poop about.Now if someone having trouble . Raw Apple cider vinegar with The mother in it. The health store can tell you more about raw Apple cider vinegar with the mother in it now if I rally had a problem I go to Sam club cafe and order the pizza it taste ok price ok and it will give the runs fast.lol but the right way I think I'd the raw Apple cider vinegar for people who are having trouble trying to poop.

Hello inkyuboz, I would say 2-3 times but it depends how often your eating. I eat 2 meals a day sometimes I poop twice or maybe three times.

I've known several people who thought they needed to go after every meal. One actually ruined her body by forcing it, the other, happily, got stopped before it got that far. The one who ruined her body tried to tell me that I should do so. I then informed her, rather strongly, that THAT is why she had the problems she had with her bowels and she was STUPID to try and tell me what to do. It is really up to the person's body how often they should go, probably every other day at the very least, once a day is good, every meal... not if you force it

depends on metabolism,how much you eat,and how active you are. they say everyday is optimal,but most people every other day seems more likely.3 days without or more is too sluggish.

personally, i try to poop everyday before taking a bath. even if poop is not coming out this moment, i just sit there and wait if it will come out. on the second day the i have not pooped, this will bother me. and at the third day, i will take some food that will make me poop easily. they say it's not good not to poop for three days.

ok my nutritionalist who is hte only person that could figure out what was wrong with me digestion wise says once a day could be too often. my gastrologist says 1+ a day. i trust my nutritionalist more since the gastrologist cant figure out my health problems since it doesnt show up on his medical tests lol..

I often wonder that myself since I'm not the most regular person myself. I work at a Hospice and if the patients don't poop by the third day then they get a laxative.....so I guess a day or two in between is normal. I still like it every day otherwise I feel bloated and fat

I think an everyday excretion of bowels is fine. From conventional wisdom, one should always try to eliminate those unnecessary stuff in the body and not let it be stored in the body for too long. That is the function of the excretory system. I believe that not excreting regularly may cause some health problems and difficult bowel movement due to the amount of stuff needed to be excreted. I'd go for everyday excretion, but if you got a lot of unnecessary stuff in your body, like when you ate something bad, you sure will have to excrete it as fast as you could.

Pooping once daily is considered normal. I think if you poop to the point that will disturb your daily routine then it is abnormal. And it is really abnormal if you poop to the point that you will get dehydrated or everything that you poop out is greater than what you take in. That is abosolutely abnormal.

once in a day or even twice a day is normal...the problem starts when it exceeds two times a day or motion does not happen even once in a day.

I think you are supposed to poop at least once a day if you arent then there could be a problem like your not getting enough fiber. I poop a lot more then most people I know. I go 3 or more times a day. Everytime I eat a meal I suddendly have to poop. Its not the runs or anything its just like my body has to make room for the food so it gets rid of the old stuff. Sometimes I cant make it through the meal I have to use the bathroom in the middle of it.

I had a problem with my bowel movement and I'm always constipated before. I only poop 2-4 times a week. I was advised by my doctor that it is better if I can poop once a day. He recommended a lot of fruits intake. He also gave me medicines but the fruits already help me lot. I drink a lot of liquids and now I poop almost everyday or every other day.
