The country has been so focused on first the earthquake in the east followed by hurrican Irene that I didn't even remember this fire! It is near Yosemite Nat'l park and has been burning for the past 3 days. It has burned 4,755 acres! That's incredible! Take about a news blackout! More than 500 firefighters are fighting this fire and it is only 35% contained. "Mandatory evacuations are in place for Rancheria, Cedar Lodge and some local campgrounds, forestry officials said. Residents in Old El Portal have been advised to prepare for evacuations." Wow! Our country is so big it is difficult to keep track of everything going on, but this certainly got overshadowed by Irene. We need to keep the entire country in our prayers so no one gets overlooked or forgotten! http://www.cnn.com/2011/US/08/29/california.fire/index.html?hpt=us_c2

There have been so many fires all summer, it seems we just get desensitized. As long as so many places are in drought conditions, we will be fighting fires. It is a shame we cannot siphon off some of the water from Irene to restore the water balance in the rest of the country.

Yes it does seem like everywhere has their own problems. Hard to focus on the whole picture. But things are happening everywhere. And I will be keeping all in my thoughts. :)
