A plane just crashed in Russia. Plane have had on board the Lokomotiv Yaroslavl ice hockey team, while they were on route to Minsk to play first game of the Continental Hockey League. On board of airplane it seem there was 45 people from which 43 are dead. Practically, that hockey team ceased to exist. There were not only russians ... The team was three times champion of Russia and last year finished third and had also foreigner players: Pavol Demitra from Slovakia, from Czech Republic are Jan Marek (31 years) and Karel Rachunek (32), the Swedish goalie Stefan Liv (30) and Ruslan Salei from Belarus (36). The team's coach was Brad McCrimmon from Canada. All games in the Continental League in Russia, the most valuable championship in Europe, have been suspended.

We are often told that the safest way to travel is by airplane, but when a plane crashes there is so much potential for loss of life. I hate to hear of entire teams, or entire schools being killed. I am sorry for the loss to the world of these athletes.

oh terrible, yes I saw that on BBC last night, I think athletes especially pros are more prone or at risk to accidents like these because of the amount of travelling they do, you know, from one stadium to the other, from one city or state to the other, one country to the other and even inter-continental.,although we do not have ice hockey here, we join the world in grieving.
