Mama Mary's birthday

the other day September 8, was the birthday of Mama Mary. Because of our love and respect to Mama Mary, we went to church and heard mass. A lot of people were there in the church that we had to wait for the next mass to be able to sit and really be in the church building. I was reminded thru the homily that Mama Mary is an intercessor, we can pray to Mama Mary so that she can help us be closer to God and also to guide us. it is only right to celebrate Mama Mary's birthday since she is also helping us to be saved.

I read this earlier today and it is the first time I have heard Mary's birthday was celebrated on Sept 8. Do you know if this is just a tradition in the Philippines? I am in the US and was raised Catholic and even went to Catholic school and never heard this. May was always the month we celebrated Mary. Very interesting.

i am not very sure if this tradition is only in the Philippines. I forgot to question my parents if this is only a date to celebrate Her birthday or is her real birthday. will research on it.

We are not Catholic but my 3 children study in a Catholic school the same way as I did myself, so I always teach them to respect what other people believe in, the same way they should demand that their belief should be respected. All three of them brought flowers for Mama Mary yesterday because the school asked them to bring flowers, "respect begets respect", I was just wondering where they got the date of Mary's birth?

i am wondering too. oh, that is the reason why there were a lot of flowers for sale outside the schools gate, and that is because the students were asked to bring flowers. yes, i agree with your motto, respect begets respect.

Thank you Mama Mary for always guiding us and leading us back to Christ. You are an example of mothery love that inspire me to be always patient and kind.
