A good friend means to me the one that is compromising, tolerant, trustworthy, dependable, similar minded, almost similar aged (older in rare cases), intelligent, moderately optimistic and so on. Lacking too many qualities of them in a person may not be worthy of friendship.
If in case none is found having maximum of those qualities to become a good friend, its better to keep lonely until one doesn't find a suitable person for healthy companionship, as per my knowledge and observation experience.

Words of wisdom. I suspect compatibilty is what is important and of course the need is there for the other person too. I find people are busy or have enough friends already that the timing is just not right for them to bond. I agree that healthy is paramount and one is maybe better to be alone if it isn't.

Good friend is hard to find and difficult to keep, if you have a good friend, you can be happy you have found one of the few best things in your life. He is always there for you to cry on his shoulder when you are sad, hug you when you are afraid, console you when you are confused, and guide you when you are lost.

Welcome to myLot. May you have happy days here. Yes. We all need friends. I have one. We call up every day and just chat most of which will be forgotten the moment we keep the phone down but that chat does pep us up for the day.

True what you said. I'm also indeed lucky to have a few friends who are that. Not many but just a few good ones that I can really have a deep conversation with and to have someone to confide in. I keep these good friends close to heart because over the years, they've been there for me as well as I've been there for them. Friends in need are friends indeed

that's true..reading this one made me miss my 2 bestfriends in college..we're really that close,..we share all the good and the bad times..the saddest thing is that, we parted..when we finished our first year of college, one of us three transferred to another school which is so far from our place..and after the next year of college, the other one stopped studying due to some financial difficulties..it was really hard for me,i was left alone then..and now we havent seen each other again..i really miss my friends..i hope i could see and talk to them again..

true but not evry friend is good...i have seen people becoming friends giving wrong advices and taking advantage of u, a good friend wil always bluntly tel u ur good and bad qualities on ur face...

I agree, I am so happy that I have true friends that are always there when i need them and I do whatever it takes to be there for them to. It really is a two way street to me.
