Why does hearing running water make me want to pee?

It makes you laugh, but i´m not kidding. This happens to a lot of people. It´s the same like thinking about going to the toilet, it makes you feel like you need to go. Any, today i was wondering about this and, maybe, someone knows the answer. Thanks.

I really am not sure scientifically but somehow it sends immediate signals to the brain which then in turn sends the signals to the bladder. Not really a laughing matter because it happens to me too. lol

Hi, Patxih. Welcome to myLot! I think it is because when you hear water running, it sounds like you are actually urinating in the toilet. I am sorry if I may sound gross, but that is the way that I look at it. I have never experienced this feeling, not unless it is time for me to use the bathroom.

Because it makes the sound that it makes when you're using the toilet, and therefore makes your brain think about going to the toilet. I got a new fish tank for my birthday, and it has a filter on it which means that it is making that noise all day and every day. I am keeping it in the kitchen at the moment and I can even hear it when I'm in bed which isn't good because it means that I have to get up to use the bathroom a couple of times every night. I think I will probably get used to it in time because I have only had it for a week at the moment.
