Should Turkey be a member of the European Union (EU) ?

Turkey has to be part of EU, because Europe is not a confessional community, Turkey had in the first half of XX century a process of modernization and now is an european country... They have to improve human rights and economy, but is a good reply to fundamentalists!

Turkey is part European and part of the Middle East. Of course Turkey should meet the same requirements as the rest of EU. But in all the discussions about religion it is important that EU welcomes Turkey to be a member of the EU.

Yes, Turkey should be a member of the EU. 1. Turkey belongs to Europe; 2. Turkey made her request to be a state member and is made efforts be one: 3. UE has no reason to does not accepts Turkey as a state member, except the prejudice. The no acceptance of Turkey as a state member is the same thing as saying that UE is only for Christians countries.
