Did anyone else notice the series cliches

I have stopped watching local (Philippine) TV shows particularly the soap operas because of the repeated use of the same plot cliches: a child will be born and somehow gotten lost, he/she will be adopted by someone close to his/her real parents, parent and child will reunite after many years - and they live happily ever after. Did you notice the same trend? What other cliches are you tired of watching?

Hi stuckonu! I have stopped watching telenovela a long time ago. There's just not much of a variety in there. The plot you described is still being used in today's telenovela. I have seen trailers and commercials of dramas that are currently airing in our local television and some of them have that plot. I think one old drama that exemplifies this is Mara Clara? But what made me really stopped watching these are the love story plots. Poor girl is the love interest of a rich boy and the family of the rich boy is against their relationship but in the end, poor girl turns out to be the daughter of a billionaire. Or the other way around. But usually it's the girl who is poor, right? Or in any other case, the couple will be rich as the story goes and it feels like, love will be better if people have money. No one ended up poor and happy.

I find it funny and annoying to watch even the trailers of these telenovelas and know exactly what will happen in the whole series just by seeing the 1 minute clip. Yeah, I remember Mara Clara started it all with the protagonists being exchange at birth. That's why I've enjoyed watching HBO's Game of Thrones as it has a very unique plot. Kudos to them!

I'm here in the States. But we have many soap cliches! The one I hate the most is when a person is wrongly accused of a murder! They go to jail and all the while we the audience know who done it! another is when two strangers meet , fall in love only to find out that they are half sister and brother. I Hate that one.

Yup I've watched some of those cliches too and it's annoying. I hope these writers read the feedback from the viewers sometimes and give us something new.

You forgot about the love story between a poor girl and a rich guy. Then there's also the plot of a kindhearted rich girl with evil relatives who wants to kill her so they can get her money. And we also have those dramas about abuse children. There is also those crazy unbelievable rags to riches stories. Even the so called Korean dramas have clichés, two Koreans will meet in a foreign country, they will fall in love and once they go back to Korea they will experience lots of problems, most likely the girl is from a poor family.

Correct. Every nationality have their own cliches. I'm can't help but wonder if these cliches really happens in real life in these countries. It may be possible but not that often.
